any abandoned railway track/station to shoot? i've always wanted to shoot such subjects.

You need to find the station master for permission to shoot there.
He's always at the station.

The station's at the railway bridge over Bukit Timah Road, near King Albert Park.

Yes!

Had also suggest many many others, some had already been accepted and the buildings preserved.

One even had it's fate reversed. Once planned for demolition, now a National Monument.

Had also suggested Istana Woodneuk and Chee Guan Chiang House for preservation.
Next up on my list, Atbara and 7 Gallop Road.

Atbara is the official name of 5 Gallop Road bungalow, the former French Embassy.

Fate reversed?
The Tou Mu Kung at Upper Serangoon Road, originally intended to be torn down due to structural reasons and land ownership issues.

Aka Jiu Huang Ye Temple, Jiu Huang Da Di Temple it is now a National Monument. :embrass:

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but there is a railtrack that runs along Bukit Panjang and towards Johore from the Ten Miles Junction. I believe the road that crosses the tracks posses traffic lights that could be Malaysian property. Can anyone verify?

if i'm not mistaken, the land mass the entire railway track is sitting on belongs to Malaysia.

Yeah, I am sure the land still belongs to Malaysia, I edited on an open-source encyclopaedia regarding the jurisdiction of Singapore on the KTM tracks.

Just that, the traffic lights? Kind of weird. ;p I will perhaps go for pictures after work tomorrow, and post the follow-up here.

Jurong Railway was built in the 1960s, as a railway to Jurong Industrial Estate.

It branches from the main line somewhere just south of Bukit Timah Railway Station.

I believe it was shut down in the 1980s. Some stretches of the old railway still survive.


WHich includes old railway signs and even entire railway bridges.

The ruins are at Sunset Way, Faber Heights, Teban Gardens.

The old railway ruins can be seen at Jurong Port Rd, Jalan Buroh and Shipyard Road.
The railway runs just beside Shipyard Rd, in the undergrowth. You can see the tracks and old signs.
The railway beside Jalan Tepong had been converted into a linear carpark.

The old bridges are at Sungei Jurong beside AYE bridge, Sungei Pandan beside AYE bridge and Sungei Ulu Pandan.

Quite amazing.... An entire railway line...

Yes, the immediate vicinity of the railway track grounds are KTMB property.

So by theory you can step into Malaysia land without passport at that point. :bsmilie:

Btw there's an old disused Malay cemetery called Old Malay Cemetery at Victoria Street.

Perfect for those doing "Addam's Family" styled shoots. :bigeyes: :bsmilie:


Also please respect that it's a cemetery, a spiritual place.

But the crossing arms and lights would be by KTM.

Oh, but LTA allows that type of traffic lights to function in Singapore? It seemed me the Malaysian traffic lights do not coincide with operations of the main traffic lights at the end of the road.

I think you should post a picture of it...

The lights at the crossing are not traffic lights by railway crossing lights.

There are also level crossings at various other places.

Yeah exactly, I am going down there afterwork tomorrow. I meant 2 traffic lights actually, it looks identical to those in Johore, and it turns red when a train is nearby, and a lever will drop to block the road lanes. Not too far behind are the main traffic lights.
