probably going against a hoard of supporters here, but i feel the need to speak up.

i feel alot of the comments here are uncalled for. we all hope for KT to recover his gear, and for the thief to be held to justice, but that should be IT. i dun think we (at least some of us) need to stoop to the thief's level and be vindictive.

Wat's this about throwing tomatoes outside the court? My goodness. and the perpetrator's gf is also at fault, or should/would break up with him? who cares? am i (or whoever reading this thread) meant to think that you are CURSING him? is there a need? honestly, if we were at NUG talking kok it's fine lar, all jokes and jest, but this is written in type, where people from the press, and other countries/communities can read and form their opinions.

remeber how the chewing gum and hello kitty joke tainted our good country's reputation? i was studying in australia then and my classmates managed to poke at my ribs with these cases. not saying it's our fault that those cases arose, but we all agree it didn't look good on us to the rest of the world. and singaporeans, if i know them well, want to "save their face", right?

why make ourselves look silly when there isn't a need. er.. sorry, quite a rhetorical statement really, there's never a reason to look/be silly except perhaps in the presence of close friends that know that we are better than that.

gun me down all you want, if any of you feel the need, but bottom line, like the rest of you, i hope KT gets his stuff back.

Hi jOhO, you are right about this.
Thanks for the comments here. :)

I only hope get my gear back, justice done, and the man will show remorse to his own action.

I do not agre, but since you have all the photogs gathered
why not do a matrix shot

stand in a curve (no cross firing)
and each take a shot of KT being happy
one after another

photog 1 shotts then photog 2 shoot ... ...
(make sure all the exposures are the same)

then make an animater gif and post.
that would be interesting

Dun shoot me....... :nono:
Dun post me here ....... :nono:

I am hoping this case will end easily and end soon without any complicated issue arise.

KT, if police confirm the guy took it, u can proceed with a civil claim, may need to engage a lawyer.

KT: have the police arrested the guy?

The status of the man and his girlfriend is unknown as the Police will not reveal to me, as the investigation is still carry on.

What should I do next, I also do not know until Police tell me.
For now, maybe I have to resign to fate that the items is lost.

Last time, 1 guy stoles his partner equipment, total over $15k, later he admited and was bring to court.

As the thief sold everything and admited the crime, the court awarded the victim won the case, but the victim did not get a single cts back. So, KT please prepare for the very worst.

Sometimes, i wonder who mades the laws............:dunno:

Yes Astin, have to wait for Police to revert to me the outcome.

I am not familiar with the Laws. But is there other way which I can ask the man or the family of the man to pay my losses instead of engaging the lawyers and go through the court procedures?

I don't think the court will award damage for such cases. Most of the time, it will be up to the victim to engage lawyer to ask for damage. Also, KT might not get back the full sum which he has paid for the equipment.

Sad case

speak to a lawyer and see if you are able to win the case + costs

nothing is certain now, speak to lawyer = waste money... 1 hour about 300-500 leh... depends on the type u hire also...

anyway, the cost of hiring a lawyer might be even higher than the cost of the equipment, and no gurantee that you will get payment, and also you might even have to fork out the lawyer fee... if have to attend court, prepare at least 20k to fight lor... tat 1 is who lose who die situation... draw is everybody die..

Wah so bad news, maybe you can
1) Seek advise from the police and see what can be done to recover your gear and what action can be taken. Time to bang table again because of their inaction and time wasted you did not managed to recover your gear.
2) Asking the family to compensate for your gear may be a good idea instead of prosecuting him in court.

I think if items is on Police Gazette it can be recovered as long as you know where it is.
Mmmm seems like police questioning is not up to par, don't they know where or whom he sold the gear to ????. It is a matter of probing further.
Really sad to here that when we are all waiting for good news.

Hi KT,

Got a friend from the police. I related ur incident to him & here's his advice;
- The only way for u to recover ur lost is to proceed with a civil sue against him, with mean u gotta engage a lawer. Chances of getting him to pay are also quite slim. U may enough end up paying more for the lawer.
- The police will press charges on him, sentence are up to 2yr jail. Jail term is definitely.
He will be celebrating ghis X'mas in Changi.

think i going to ask a 'police' to read this post... hehehehe... if u reading hor... please post your views leh...

i dun think KT can choose to prosecute him or not... its the police who holds the key to the prosecuting now... KT, i think its time to give the guy another email, u know what to say liao rite...

anyway, unless he is a minor, depends how the law view it now, below 18 or 21, the family or guardian might be liable.. otherwise, its he himself being liable for it.

22 Dec Toa Payoh.. i think KT not around liao...

Then have to wait for next year lor.

Anyway asking the fellow to pay back is one possible way specially if the Police is going to charge him. I understand that it might be used as a reason to ask for a lighter sentencebut subjected to the judge's final decision.

Cheers
John
