Hi all,

Been having neck problem for some time and I've been looking high and low for a suitable pillow. Anyone can share where to buy those good support pillow (preferably with contour) and priced affordably? i.e no Tempur for me (about SGD 200) cos I think there are more value for money options.

Thanks!

I've been using the Friven contour pillow for many years. These are the ones you can buy at Isetan for $19.95 or $29.90 (depending on whether there's a sale or not). One side of the contour is higher than the other. The lower side supports your neck at just the right height. No other pillow suits me.

thanks for the recommendation man! I'm looking for 1 as well! will check out this weekend. Do they have it in different hardness as well?

There was a Tempur promo thro Guardian Pharmacy. You spend about $150 at Guardian and you may redeem a Tempur pillow at only S$100plus. Not sure if its still on.

The pillow I am using is by Novafoam and it fits the description Streetshooter has given, but I like to use the side with the higher arch to support my neck instead of the lower side.

Another thing that helps for me is to do some neck and shoulder stretching exercise every night before I sleep. Just a couple of minutes of gentle stretching before sleeping and I wake up with noticeably less stiffness in my neck and shouder areas in the morning. Works for my back also. I would recommend giving this a try. No $$ needed, just a few minutes every night.

nightstar, i know you mentioned u are looking at other options other than tempur.

but it is really a good pillow.couldnt sleep without it.
in fact when i stayed in hotels, i really miss my tempur pillows.:(

2 cents k?

Best pillow for neck support is wife's arm. Plus it's free. :)

is it? which guardian...I just bought 1 2 days ago...can't wait to go back to get 1 for my travelling kit, 1 at the living area, 1 for my mum, 1 for my dad..... ;)

Not doing a free promo for tempur but I also skeptical before, if $10 can get me a similar pillow, why pay 20+ times more.

I was in Compass point and saw this promotion for many brands of pillows, there were of course, many contour, memory effect, conforming pillow etc. Some are like $19, some $49, some $69 so I couldn't understand why the big diff. I suppose it is the brand that makes the difference but all of them have 1 common area - made in China. The more expensive ones like nearing $100 are all snapped up, those are made in Japan.

I was devastating about neck and back problem also, I can have criss-cross pains everyday...something like left shoulder, right back pain or right shoulder, left back pain etc....tolerate for 3 months before deciding to look out for a better pillow.

So my wife ask me I want to go sinseh every weekend or get a not so good pillow then change every few months or pain one day, next day gets better and recovered nice nice wake up every morning can go jogging somemore.

The first night I use, the next morning the pain completely gone! But my rib cage pain for several hours in the morning. I called up tempur and they ask me to roll up and I get even better results the next day. I time my sleep time and its 7 hours yesterday and 5 hours today! Wake up nice and fresh dun even need to laze around my wife thought I'm up for a extra long toilet breaks some more when I don't return after 10 minutes!

But u have to know what pillow u prefer and suitable for u. If u go to ask the salesperson u most definitely get a white elephant back. Now I'm thinking of going back to sleep again......zzzzzz

Tempur users beware. A couple of years ago, I read an article from Consumer Reports that the memory foam material Tempur uses may emit harmful chemical fumes as it ages.

From that day on, I changed my Tempur mattress to regular pocketed-spring matteress. Better be safe than sorry!

Was passing by and saw at Toa Payoh HDB Hub outside NTUC got special offer contour pillow around $15.90. Feels quite nice so I got 2. Medium firmness - no neck ache first day I tried. They have several types of contour pillow and some got a section in the middle that's harder to support the added weight of the head one. Price range from $15.90 - $30+

Ya. I'm also looking for a suitable pillow as I'm having very bad shoulder aches every morning when I wake up. Sometimes, it hurts so much that there's slight numbness on my left arm.
I take 'nerve vitamins' everything as prescribeb by my doc but that's only temporary.

I did consider tempur but at $200+, heart pain. Somemore so many pillows out there dunno which is good/suitable.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for all the *pillow talk* :). I bought so many pillows in Shanghai and in Singapore until my mum got quite scared whenever I bring back another one. I've even tried lying down on mattresses in the big department stores like Metro/OG/Sea Horse just to try out the pillow before purchase and so far none has made the mark. I really miss that kind of sleep where you get up refreshed so really looking for a good alternative. Have not tested Tempur/Ikea pillow yet,if they are really that good, I might give it a shot when back in town again. Btw I also saw the one at NTUC which is made of polyurethane. But there was no mattress to try it out so in view of the pillow mountain back home I didn't buy it.

Will try out the brands you all mentioned next time when I'm back in town again. Buying a suitable pillow in Shanghai is even harder...imported ones are super expensive and local ones are way too soft :).

I using seahorse brand contour pillow costs around $25. There is a cheaper softer version also.
