Cool, went today at 7 and hassel free.

got EN-EL3e also. I think it's a good deal. even for me who takes a cab there costing 15 bucks! :)

Am ready for D200 upgrade soon.

hahahaha.

pls go down and change ONLY if your battery is affected

I don't think you will be able to change it if your's is not affected any way.

The Nikon staff will check btw.

Do you have to hand in the recalled battery with the clear plastic cover that protects the contacts ? Not sure where kept the cover...

Hehe how about I give you my non-affected batteries to swap for your affected batteries then I go down and change to new ones for myself? :) :)

if Sjourn's batteries are affected i see how you're going to change with him, you'll have to pay for all the mail service to some island in China :bsmilie:

That's right. They just want your affected battery 1 to 1 exchange. nothing else. :)

Is it ok to assume that the 3rd party versions of EN-EL3 should still be safe to use?

what has this to do with the recall of nikon EN-EL3?? By asking this question u are going to start another highly contested debate on whether or not to use 3rd party ....

If u want to use just use lor, I am still toggling bet my nikon and eastgear, if one day it blows then LL lor ... haha!

Anyway, shouldn't this recall lesson teaches us one fact? Original or 3rd party ... they still can fail ...

" but original do QC, and do recalling ... and warranty ... "

" some oem also has warranty mah ... " ........ and the debate will goes on again ... :complain:

Yeah, any brand can still fail, but if using Nikon brand, Nikon will cover your ass, if using 3rd party, Nikon won't cover your ass.

OEM batteries got warranty, but they don't cover the camera if it explodes.

What is the warranty for Nikon Batteries?

You mean Nikon will gives warranty on coverage of Nikon batteries exploding in Nikon Camera? My view is, if this ever happen in USA, they will be sue millions of dollars, not sure what can be done in Singapore.

Does Nikon make Batteries? I’ve search the web regarding this but found neither Nikon nor Canon makes any of their own Batteries. It seems to me that all their Batteries are OEM from some Batteries Company too.

There's no warranty for Nikon batteries AFAIK.

But I believe that if you're using Nikon batteries and it explodes, Nikon will bear the responsibility of the damage done to the camera, as that's why Nikon says, it will NOT bear responsibility from issues arising due to using of non-Nikon recommended equipment on it's warranty card & manual.

Nikon doesn't make battery, it out sources too I believe, but the difference is that Nikon endorses these batteries. They don't endorse 3rd parties. So regardless it's OEM from other companies or not, it doesn't matter. The produce is original Nikon item and will be endorsed and treated as such.

I do believe that there is a clause that says Nikon will only warranty Nikon parts.
So, there is an exclusion clause.
If u use 3rd party battery and the cam explodes, too bad, u were warned not to use non nikon product.

Same goes for phones, usage of 3rd party product batteries voids the warranty and issues arising from using these products are not covered by warranty.
