How much did you pay for your B300? Off Ebay or locally?

hi imaginary_number , perhaps you'll want try out the processing on: http://www.pbase.com/image/5100482

This has quite a lot of obvious CA.

The bird pic won't have much CA problems cos there's no high contrast areas.

$210 locally. Jumped at the chance when someone offered for sale. Had missed out on 3 other occassions previously.

Okie. Looking forward to see your shots :)

Anyway, not sure if you've seen this before, but here're some pics from the sg zoo. This guy is using the 602Z + B300 as well.

Perhaps you can use them as a benchmark and come back with even better shots :D

Seem more difficult to remove CA from that pic... Anyway, will try again when I've the time.

I believe this is where you got that info from?
http://www.weekai.com/info/reduceca/

In any case, I read about this at dpreview. Went to do a search on the web and it seems that it can be done; not many links were available though.

Another guy at dpreview also mentioned that Camera Bits Quantum Mechanic Pro plug-in for Photoshop can eliminate CA.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read_opinion_text.asp?prodkey=canon_pro90&opinion=3805

Here's another interesting link on removing CA:
http://ray.cg.tuwien.ac.at/rft/Photography/TipsAndTricks/Aberration/

Actually the one I read is this..

http://www.dpreview.com/learn/Glossary/Optical/Chromatic_Aberrations_01.htm

But seems your other links may have more effective tips on correcting CA problems... worth a try.. :)

I assume no one's interested in this TC anymore? If not then maybe I'll have to bear the shipping cost myself... :(

Actually there already is apparent CA in that picture. Take a good look at the upper edge of the branch that the bird is perched upon. Signs of purple fringing.

Moreover, there seems to be a problem of corner softening in this picture. Note that the part of the branch in the centre is sharper than the parts to the side, even when the section to the left is at the same distance to the camera.

All this is apparent even after post processing by imaginery-number. I presume that only sharpening(over) was applied?

There was a jap page that had test shots of pigeons from the following Tele-Convertors. (Fuji 1.5, Olympus TCon 14, TCon14B, B300 and Raynox 1850Pro.)

To my eyes, TCON14B seemed to be the best of the lot, followed by the B300/TCon14.

The Raynox 1850Pro exhibited both CA as well as corner softening in that test as well.

Perhaps someone else might remember the URL to that page and post it here.

previously had thought of getting 2 TCON14B to stack together... but gave up adter learning about it's price and weight ;p It sure is a good piece of lens.... maybe when I have the money, I would get one to couple to the B300.

Glad to hear nice feedback about the TCon14 which I'm using.. makes me think twice about selling it in favour of the cheaper but larger zoom C210.. :)

Yeah.. anyone remember the URL of the jap page??
