Oh no that might stop me to sell away my <3 months old 10D if it is true for the above mention.
yup, the shutter sounds pretty loud.... especally, when you burst. you could listen to a sample here:

sound like 20D really got a lot of problems. It stop me from buying my first digital camera :bsmilie:
i think the main problems is the sound. if it is too loud, it might affect those insect and animals shoot

hi personally own the 20D and it is true tt shutter is on the loud end and imo have a high chance of scaring those animals away when you are shooting close. More of birds i feel in a constricted env with limited distance btw you and the bird and an extremely quiet surrounding.
Another bad scenario with the 20D is in a piano concert etc. Or a theatrical setting where ambience noise is not appreciated.
For insects hard for me to comment because i forgot if they have ears or not haha... ;p
i just came back from KL. walked in and asked only 1 shop and was quoted 5800 for kit and 5700 body only. That works out to only 2557 with today's exchange rate of 2.268....sigh.....dare not ask other shops or bargain if not heart pain :cry:

If sound could be an issue, then I better try it out at the store to hear how loud it can be before deciding on whether to purchase or not. Hope I won't be disappointed.
