question: any light dlsr for female/beginner?

hi all. any nice "So call budget" DSLR recommended for female user?

prefer to be light and for beginners.

thanks all.

Sony A33/A55 (if u wanna save some money, just get the A33) would be the more value for money DSLR. One of the lightest and alot of functions. Hand Held Panorama is a very very fun and useful function as well, and its only available on the A33/55, no other DSLRs have it.

If you will be taking this hobby more seriously and in the long run, Canon would be a good choice as the weight isn't too much for a female user. Start with a 500 / 550D and slowly move up. Hope this helps :)

which rock have you been hiding under?

the world has progressed and now there's the 600D and 60D

and the lightest DSLRs are not from Canon. if you can consider SLT cameras as DSLRs, due to it being an interchangeable lens system as well, just with a fixed mirror, they are much lighter than anything similar other brands have to offer.. so before you say the weight of the 500D/550D isn't too much, look at what is really the lightest ;)

Oh... please... Canon is not exactly light... I mean 60D is even heavier than Nikon's D7000 and the rest of the range ain't actually small too. so how would the weight category play any parts in this as in competition to the rest of the brands? Plus with introduction of SLT, mirrorless camera, etc, Canon's camera would seemed to weight a brick compared to them.

Wah! Nice to see a new supporter of mirrorless cams! :D

I am not a supporter for any particular brand or format... but I ain't against any either. I use whatever I find works for me in that situation. So sometime, I will go around with my 7D and heavy lens, tripod/ monopod, etc. And sometime I choose to bring my EP-L1 for a shoot.

Yes. True.

What I meant to say was that it is good that you support the idea of mirrorless as an option.

Looking at the newbie threads still hard to find anyone bringing up the genre.

True. Actually... I am not a new supporter... (using supporter loosely), I am using mirrorless format for a long time now (I think close to a year). I love my EP-L1... although it only had 1 lens at the moment, which I find enough for my purpose. I have bought an adapter from ebay to adapt some of my Canon lens to it... and is waiting anxiously for the adapter to arrive :)

Actually I don't really like people who was closed to other formats (not meaning you, don't get it wrong) or brands... and only vote feverish to the format or brands that they are using... I mean, why impose this limitation to themselves? That is way, whenever a newbie ask what camera to get, I will normally give them a range of choice... depending on their described purposes... and if you look at many of my threads... I did include mirrorless and SLT format in my list of proposition.

... so you're saying if she goes with other brands, she's not taking it seriously?

Wow, Fanboi-ism at it's finest.

then he's in the wrong camp. he uses a Nikon

Maybe he is someone who think the field is always greener on another side of the country. But what I don't understand is... why he chose Canon only and not other brands too.

Seriously I am pretty confuse as to why people would like to limit themselves to particular brand of camera and not open to the rest of the brands. Bcos for all he knows, other brands might suits him better...
