What matters is not how much a guy can earn... is how much a guy spends...
Even if a guy earns $1mil a month but spend $2mil in a day... do the math...

thanks guys for all the answers.
i'll be really honest.
someone whom i'm seeing is a SLTC.now 36.
we havent really been together long enough, that's why i'm really curious as to how much he's commanding.($, i mean).
i know, next person will come flaming my arse saying why look at $ blah blah blah blah blah, but seriously, it's one of the considerations for me.and please give me this rights.
imho, 7k-8k is a little low for a guy at mid 30s but i know it's tough comparing different sectors, different jobs.
in my sector, any guy at my level will easily be commanding 15k.
Follow the heart or follow the money?????
Anyway, how many crabs is LTC?????
two......
The retirement age for officers have been raised from 45 to 50 years a year or two ago. A LTC should draw around 8-9K or even more depending on the number of years he has been holding the rank and this does not factor in the allowances especially if he is a pilot. Unless you are a Col or above, the SAF don't offer you any job including the Operational Manager (OM) in a school. You have to look for your own job. Other than ex-police personnel, as far as I know, majority of the OMs in schools are ex-WO with a few ex-CPTs and MAJs. Very unlikely that a LTC will "lower" himself for this post. The reason being most officers are so used to giving instructions to their subordinates to get jobs done and being an OM, you are actually taking instructions from the principal and/or vice-principals. Many officers, I know, are not used to this and resigned from the OM post. WOs are most suitable for the job and that's why u see many of them stay long in the job. I know all these because I retired in July and am currently an OM in one of the schools in Woodlands area.![]()
