salaries are always sensitive.
i didnt ask cos i respect his privacy.

to be honest, when i'm with him, i DO sense his inferiority complex building up.
but he's humble, down to earth.
SAF had teach him well.

he mention that whenever we pull into a hotel lobby and valet park, he has thing feeling that people see him as a 'duck', if you know what i mean.
:bsmilie:

i had such a good laugh whenever i'm with him.:)

:bsmilie:

that is understandable... a guy usually will feels inferior when they know their gf is earning more or much more then them. :)

anyway i dun agree that salary is sensitive btw couples, i mean since you are already together, should be more open. :) but unless he is not willing to tell, then you just have to respect him.

that's the point.
i didnt say it's PURELY lookin at how much dough he brings home.

but i have to admit, i'm a high maintenance woman.
i have 3 supercars+ 2 lao pok car to feed on top of 2 properties.
i dont see how anyone earning less than 20-30k a month being able to afford me IF i'm not working.
again, i didnt say this to show off.it's REALITY.

this is S I N G A P O R E.

solution 1:

look for gong li husband lor, . good man, tobacoo tycoon of singapore.

solutions 2:

sell away you cars, sell away 1 of your property.

will the good tobacco tycoon fall for someone with less than gong li's fame and looks?

What if one day he gets sacked, dismissed from saf and he loses the 7k pay....

Btw, oversea scholar and local scholar is a hell difference.......non-scholar are consider farmer......

i have the utmost respect for farmers.... came across a few of them who made it to COL/BG when i was still in reservist.

being a scholar doesn't mean automatic promotion, he will still need to prove his mettle. some scholars in the SAF have also screwed up and ended up hentak kaki-ing.

someone whom i'm seeing is a SLTC.now 36.
we havent really been together long enough, that's why i'm really curious as to how much he's commanding.($, i mean).

wa!!!! jeanie zeh zeh got bf!!!! so many broken hearts after this statement.

(doesn't include me la) :bsmilie:

that will be the true test of "for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health..."

you qualify meh? :bsmilie:

scholars doesn't mean they are always the BoB (Best of Best) or cream of the crop (except academically wise). it only means they are very good academically.

but u must know, not everything from the book can be put into use in real life. u only got more knowledge then others but life experience is something you cannot learn from books.

also, some scholars can do well academically but give them a piece of work, they will struggle.

sometimes, pay based on scholarship system, i feel isn't fair, just cos this person academically is best doesn't mean i cannot do a better job then him in work.

ok enough of my rants. haha

Then he'll be back to square one with no level of non-military applicable work experience..

jeanie zeh zeh

some suggestions for you, humble ones. you also know i never really laugh at you, when i laugh i always laugh at everyone. :bsmilie:

i agree with you, money is important. i also agree with you that you have a right to determine your own criteria for lifelong partners. that's fair enough. but don't forget that people also have a right to feel about this criteria.

i'm not you, i don't own many cars, i don't have any property, i don't think i will reach $15k in this lifetime. i'm also not a girl, and i don't have nikon lenscaps. i can see your point of view that the person you marry should be able to sustain your lifestyle.

putting all those silly love ideology rubbish things aside though, i really, really think that beneath it all, if you found someone good enough, all that won't matter. to me, at the end of the day, this life is too short to care so much about material goods. don't have enough money to buy good car? it's ok, i can walk. don't have enough money to buy good condo or landed property in nice location? doesn't matter, hdb is enough to hold my things. don't have enough money to buy camera gear? it's ok, i will handle other priorities first, next time then say.

but if you have enough money to do all these, but the person lying next to you, having dinner with you, whose kids you will be bearing (if you choose to do so)... means very little to you, then all of that would be tasteless. maybe it's ok, you can change it later on, but sometimes it is too late, when you have other things to think of.

yes, without money, also no love to talk about, got other things to worry about. but have enough money to live life comfortably... then maybe, don't care so much. lifestyle can change, luxury can reduce... having a lifelong partner that you cherish, that's far more important.

cheers, and merry x'mas. :)

1)low maintenance wife
2)kids-cheaper childcare?
3)hdb
4)A to B car?
5)still working parents.

aiyo, why you assume no parents plan for retirement one...

7k a mth for guy mid 30s is very very high. Unless he's a very qualified person, very good work attitude at very very high paying sector.

aiyo, this is not for banking sector...

you must see who's asking...

he will have good transferable skills in operational planning and logistics, and hopefully good people skills as well.

he can also try selling property/insurance which doesn't require prior applicable work experience.

top property agents (and i'm sure there are ex-SAF officers who have become very successful property agents) can earn $20-$30k per month easily.
