Nope.. my favourite film is Velvia (remember my fav photo of 2001? that was shot with Velvia), nothing comes close to that now.. ;) (ok ok, maybe Kodak 100VS which i also like, but I don't usually use it for Nature & Wildlife). Besides... I have quite a few rolls of 400F in my fridge at the moment..

PS: WARNING!! Don't put Velvia slides next to Provia 400F slides on a lightbox.... that will be the end of Provia 400F as your favourite film... :p :p :p

Erm,
Pardon my ignorance, but why can't you put the two together?

The Maths:
22 rolls at $135 (w/o GST); $139.05 (incl. GST)
Price per roll = $6.32

How much issit selling outside? Just bought a Provia 100F for $8.70 at CP but can't find the Provia 400 anywhere.

Decent savings of around $2.40 per roll - ain't bad.

thanks in advance.

if you do so, you'll see the difference between them....you can try to shoot using both film and make comparison yourself...

Haha.. had the same problem too. I believe he meant exposed ones. Ones which you've already taken pictures with.

I take it to mean that the Velvia will produce far 'better' (better is subjective) images/pictures/slides as opposed to the Provia 400F.

Unexposed film normally don't/shouldn't 'react' with each other when placed side by side. :)

Am currently experimenting on both the Provia and the Velvia. Want to see if it's worth the investment.

But are there major differences between the Provia 100 and the Provia 400? The 400 appears to be grainier no?

Although I've never used Provia 400F, it's expected to be grainer than the its sibling, Provia 100F. How much grainier? Well, that depends on our tolerance level...so may feel it's acceptable while other will feel it just can't make it ;)

Grain on 400F is darn fine, quite close to ISO 100 film.

I think safer to say 'normal' ISO 100 films. Think if you compare to Provia 100. Cannot fight. But then, Provia 100 is suppose to be the finest around :p

According to a review on Outdoor Photography (-pher?), it's so close that the reviewer almost cannot differentiate the 100F and 400F slides on his lightbox after he left them there for a while. :)

Er... Guys.. I think that the talk abt 100 and 400 film is over....No point talking abt it now......

The questions now is...... are we able to get the Provia 400F Bulk?
And if so, when?
And if not, Why?

I believe that this shld be our attention now.

My $0.02 worth

Just to clarify all the confusion, I was of course referring to placing exposed Velvia & Provia 400F slides on the lightbox (why else would u do that?? :bsmilie: ).

Also, Velvia is rated at ISO 50 and even when pushed 1 stop to ISO 100, is still much less grainy than Provia 400F. Needless to say, what attracts me most to Velvia is its punchy saturation and contrast. If you think Provia 400F on a lightbox looks good, Velvia on a lightbox would have images that almost seem to "jump" out at you and making Provia 400F images look dull in comparison.

Having said all these, I must say that the amount of grain on Provia 400F is very impressive for a ISO 400 slide film, try it to believe it.

Ok ok.. now.. who else wants more Provia 400F ??? Come come, dun be shy!! ;)

Velvia is fine and all, untill you shoot people.. and ISO 50 is slow man. Quite a specialised film, if you ask me.

Of course, and that is why I only use Velvia for Nature/Wildlife/Scenary. Also, I will often push Velvia 1 stop unless I am doing scenary (which I haven't had much chance to do recently).

For people photos, I would choose from Fujicolor Portrait NPC/NPS 160 ,NPH 400 Professional or Kodak PORTRA series.

these two film cannot put side by side, b'coz one male and one female you put togather problem will ARISE ....:bsmilie:
