these are some pics taken with the 28-300 when i travelled to msia over the weekend. its a very versatile lens, one lens was enough to cover the whole trip.

thanks. i feel the 28-300 is reasonably sharp for most purposes. gonna try in f1 next.

Are you sure that you will use 28-300 for F1 night racing ?

If I was you, I would prefer:
- 70-200 f/2.8 VR1/VR2 (Even VR1, I think it's still sharper than 28-300).
- 300mm f/4 VR

why not. I did it with a tamron 28-300vc last year. with the afs and slightly bigger aperture at the long end on the Nikon version, in fact it should be better.

Dude, the 55-300mm is SO MUCH LIGHTER than the 70-300mm VR. My friend got his one today and it's really nice.

I use the older AF 300mm f/4 on my D300s, and it's fast. No issues with hunting thus far, although I've not used it for fast moving objects yet.

Thanks for the reply. I thought of getting this lens to shoot in this year Singapore F1. Bearing in mind that I will be shooting not only fast cars but also shooting through fence as well. Btw, I am using Nikon D300.

Most of their cheap prices are too good to be true when I contacted them there is no stock and they do not know when next stock coming..

I don't think there's a 300mm f/4 VR

Nikon does offer the following though:

Sorry, I have mixed up my mind with the Canon version --> Canon EF 300mm f/4.0 L IS USM (weight is only 1190g).

As I remember my friend was using 300mm f/4 with IS.
Previously I thought Nikon also had. :embrass:
