Prices for Canon DSLR cameras

Sorry guys,

I was new to the photography and i really keen to learn on it. I dunno which model that i should buy or which lens is good for photo shooting.Is there anyone can tell me which model (with kit) that I should buy for an amateur like me? My budget is more or less abt SGD 2k?

if i have 2k may be i will be buying Nikon D90 kit -1650$ (sorry canon fans), OR Canon 50D kit for around 1850$, OR may be new Canon 500D model that i had not yet read reviews. About lens what i understand is 18-105mm or 18-200mm zoom lens best if have enough money to spend.

better come here to ask the questions before getting your first DSLR. If they realize that you are green, there is no telling what they will do. Fortunately, you went to a large electronic store, if you went to those chop shops, I hate to imagine what will happened.

Hi guy yesterday i went to CP(MS) to check out the price for 5Dmk2 body only and was quoted $3950 the sales guy told me that was the best price and said this price is only for this time round and might be going up to $4500 next month. How true is it?

It might be true. My usual camera shop in Vancouver (bccamera.com) is already advising a CAD200 increase in May.

Hi guys,
i think the economy overall will be affected for a year and more, their cameras business also will be affected badly. so the price increase is suicide. be patient to get cheap things. yen is going up so the prices surely increase, but that is the theory during good time, i doubt this time arond it will follow the normal pattern. its the buyer market.

I'm not too sure. But remember this is in Vancouver, Canada. This retailer is quite upfront about price increases. They gave similar warning over last Christmas (bought a 24-105 and saved myself CAD180) and Canon Canada really raised the price on 1st Jan.
