PowerShot S90! users.. Come In!!

i tested it on playing panning and it is good! :)

nice camera..love it!

I never had so much fun with a compact camera since my Powershot G1!

The quality of the photo is so good. I find that with a bit of photoshopping the photos come out almost as good as if I had taken with my DSLR. Really tempting just to bring this camera along instead of lugging the big one!

Agree with you. To me, the only lacking compare to DSLR is the deep DOF. Even with f2, still a bit difficult to achieve shallow DOF. Nonetheless, for some occasion, I would definitely enjoy a light and compact camera

Zoom to the max and shoot at widest aperture lo! Thats what I did on my S3!

have you tried on S90?
From what i know, S3 is different from S90.
S90's longest zoom only got 105mm, with f4.9
unless the subject and background are very far separated, I don't think it is possible.
Even there is some sort of 'background blur', still, can't match DSLR

HOWEVER, as I said earlier in other thread, this is not dslr, never meant to be one. But I'm trying to say, that is 'the only lacking compare to DSLR'

Does anyone here have experience with the Panasonic DMC-LX3 and how does it compare to the Canon S90? It's a bit of a toss up according to online reviews. I have the Panasonic LX3 and like it alot but somtimes the zoom range a just a little too short - 24 - 60mm only. BTW I love the 24mm. But I guess 28mm is okay too esp since it a fair bit longer then the 60mm on the LX-3. So sad about the G11 - slow lens. Sometimes I wonder what goes through manufacturers' minds when they do this to themselves.

I also got mine! Decided to keep for myself instead of giving as Christmas gift. Hee. Really great - fast and responsive!! Sharp too!

Personally I think the main consideration between LX3 and S90 is the size. The S90 fits nicely into my shirt pocket and my jeans. I already have a DSLR so the compact size is essential.

Yes I do agree the one thing it lacks is the DOF. In situations where I only have my S90, what I do is to apply the blur after taking the photo. Still better than not having a photo at all.

Here is the original

Here is one that I applied lens blur

I was choosing between the 7D vs the S90, and decided on the S90 instead. Just bought it this morning. :)

Is there anyway to attach a polarising filter on the S90?

i guess you can use the Cokin filter attachment system for PnS where you can use a CPL.

Any more info on this? Link? thanks!

Bro, you should try google some time. Anyway, I think these are the alternative methods you can use. However, do note that these kinds of attachments are pretty bulky (relative to the small S90). The other limitation for S90 is that these will probably prevent you from using the ring function thingy around the lens.

Hi guys, just bumping this post up to see any new S90 users interested in this custom made grip?

So far got me and another person interested....just looking for one more so can share the shipping costs for this. Refer the below post for more info.

Should be ordering soon, prolly after Sunday. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks!

Hi fellow S90 users!

Hope you guys are enjoying the cam!

Just gauging interest here - I saw this custom made S90 grip over at dpreview forums - its called the Richard Franiec grip - a specially made grip to attached to the front smooth portion of the camera. I believe it would help greatly in gripping the camera more tightly. Its like the equivalent of your DSLR battery grip.

More info about the grip: http://www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_s90
