Last time when I bought my V3, there was a free training by Canon. Is there something similar for S3?

Great! Thanks! Hoping to get my S3 within this week. If only shops close later :D

Brought this thread over from the S3 User thread...

How do you convert into DVD? By your DVD burner software? How much does the overall file size reduces from the orignal .avi file? I tried converting to Xvid, it is about 25% of the original size...

Have been playing around with the video mode as well for the camera and converting them into a DVD...nice and sharp with good stereo sound...pity it maxes out writing till 1GB (as stated for the Canon specifications). :)

Gotten my S3 last night from MS. Fully charged my batteries. Going to take some shots later tonight. :bsmilie:

The avi file at 788MB is reduced to about 220-240MB in DVD VOB format. The idea was to just convert the AVI into a playable DVD for my friend. I seperated the AVI into seperate streams of movie and audio and recompile them back together. You definitely get much better compression results with the Xvid codec.

The file size is about a third...why do you need to seperate the A and V file for DVD compilation?

$750 - $760 is the normal price for the moment.

AP and Cathay quote me $720 w/o GST = $756 w GST.

SGD752,85 w/gst. Got it from MS about 2 weeks ago. iboey, write an email to them and they will quote you 717. You will get 760 if you call in. Dun ask me why, I also dun know!!?? :P

Hi All!! I just got my S3 last nite too!! One question: How many gig SD card can S3 support up to?

I believe most new cameras including the S3 has no practical limits on the card size. They are no longer limited by the 2GB size. Many people have reported using 4GB cards on their S3 without any problems. Personally, I have used only up to 2GB.

how long video can we record with 2 gig?

hm... if i'm not wrong its up 1gb/1hour, whichever first.

It all depends on the resolution you choose. At highest resolution, it is under 9 mins per 1GB. Check the Canon website for the details.

15 min 28 sec at the highest setting - 640x480x30fps

covert to Xvid after dat can reduce file size by 75%.
