yeahz.. i told u already. look at e top of e camera.. e bottom right u see a knob rite. when u turn it counter-clockwise, it turns on e camera.. e other way round is preview.

I don't know how fast the S-series can AF (it has USM?) but the G5 focuses very slowly. For my work it is impossible to auto focus so the only way is to prefocus, and track the subject by moving the entire camera. Even with the 20d I do this. if your subject is small it is very hard for the camera to AF.

for stationary macro subjects, and if you are very very close, your body sway will be enough to miss the intended focal point. so you can AF lock, the move the camera slightly until it hits the focal point you want. most of macro work involves manual focusing and takes alot of practice.

sounds like you should read the manual!

yeahz.. my fren says e EVF seems weird too. i guess it's like tis for e S series.. i know manual focus is better den auto. but in wat way eh?

it is not just the EVF, the whole LCD on the S1 Pro was funny.

lazy lah...the manual too thick liao :)
One should not be lazy to read the manual. :nono: One will not know how to fully use the functions. Yes, one may fiddle around with it - but it would take time and might miss something. Or even worse, might do something that damages the camera! Just my opinions.

Reading the manual will help you explore the camera.

Lemme see, I only asked whats-her-name-Florence? at MS Color where was the macro, and that was it, I'm off and haven't read the manual since. Good thing about Canon's UI design, it works more or less the same. You pick up any Powershot, you can use any other Powershot or Ixus or whatever.

you guys can you try something:

1. take a ruler with mm markings
2 zoom to max optical zoom (no digital zoom please)
3. put your cam into manual focus and dial it to the minimum focus distance
4. now move your camera towards the ruler until it is in focus
5. make sure the ruler is parallel to your focusing plane
6. make sure the ruler scale is horizontal to your picture frame
7. take a pix
8. tell me how many mm you can see in the picture
9. thankyu you very much
