Why did you sell it?

Because the Zeiss 85f1.4 renders differently on the Canon 5D sensor and it made the Canon 85f1.8 looked very ordinary. Also the 85f1.8 has too much CA and produces very dull color. I have very peculiar taste as I prefer alternate lenses on Canon's sensor.

nice!

i saw your niece photo in the Zeiss 85 f1.4 album... the last photo looks very grainy... ISO bump up too high?

It was purposely heavily cropped to gain some grain and thereby giving it the "film" feel. I never shoot higher than ISO 1000, most of the time limitting it to ISO 640.

Thanks for the explanation.

Nice picture.

Dennis n An drew, thanks.

If one can't choose between 85 and 135, a good substitude will be one in between, a 100 or 105mm. I love my 105mmf2.5. guess what lens is this?

These are definitely not Canon. Very beautiful color rendition and extremely useful wide open and stop down to f5.6.

hehe, i already got canon's 135mm :)

i dun really like 85mm this focal length on my FF (previously used it on 450D) so i sold it away. Prefer a longer reach in this case.

is this a tokina?

Depends on usage, if you're expecting alot of indoor use. go 50 or 85. if more outdoors use go 135 for additional bokeh effect.

Hi Anthony, where did you get this lens from and at what price?

I feel that the 135 f2L on 5DII is a "no horse run" combo for portrait.

My Zeiss is the old Contax CY version which I prefer with stop down aperture and thus no focus shift. Market value for a good copy is round S$ 900.

The 135F2L is a good lens but does not fit me as I don't like the color rendition. I prefer my Pentax K 135f2.5. I also do not shoot AF as I have all the time in the world. If I can afford, I will hunt down the Zeiss Contax 135f2. Hopefully Zeiss will recreate this lens in the ZE version or better still the 135f1.8.

I shoot in raw and do all my PP with Canon's DPP. Yes I do sharpen all my images as all raw images out of camera require some form of sharpening at DPP. Don't you?

nope. i dun sharpen all my pics , esp those taken with the 135mm f2. they are sharp out of the cam.
