Mine was dealing with my flash. Give a bit discount. But my bad was, the buyer smsed me in the wee hour so I reply with short words which I think I was rude in sms ethics. But then the buyer said he/she is interested so we set a date. But the Buyer wants it at 11am.

I was quite hesitant since my workplace has a stocktake run. But I thought I could get a time-off just to deal wit this thing. So I agreed. The next day, Unfortunately it was very busy so I could only see that I can meet the buyer at 12. So I smsed and ask is it convenient to change at 12. No Reply. Then Time nearing to 11. I was quite worried since the buyer never reply. So I ask if he/she wants to deal or not coz it seems like it doesnt and I dun wanna waster trip and my time-off. No Reply. 11am came, I remember the buyer gave the nick in this forum so I checked. No Such person(Or maybe new member? thats why cannot check?). Anger came and I smsed saying the buyer a fluke coz no such member and deal if off. Then the buyer reply said if I already had a higher bidder just say so. I said I honor 1st deal and there IS another buyer but I told that guy that I had a buyer already. The the buyer start to turn the story around saying I am a cheat and a liar and never trusted me at all. So I said, if want to cancel deal just say so, no need to let people waste time. And the buyer still spouting nonesense that I am a rich snob who tried to cheat people. I reply again by saying IF I'm rich, I wont be selling my items. After that the buyer said he/she will complain about me in CS. I said go ahead. Till today, no see lei.

almost the same tactic..

i think a mad person and his gang is stalking BnS..

I hope advertisement at BnS will not become as difficult as other forums (i will not name but i think ppl know which site i am referring to).

I don't think putting yearly subscription will be fare to those who sell 1~2 items in 1 year.
If i have a step-up/down ring to sell for 20$ (and only one advertisement for that year), does it make sense to pay yearly subscription? I can understand if i am selling on commercial base then i should be charged.

And at the end of the day when one person buy item they can check on spot (either receipt, warranty card or items itself), it is not like e-bay that you will receive items in mail.

I have done a few deals so far and didn't have problem with any buyer/seller (at least all my items i sold came with original receipts/warranty cards).

But again i don't speak for everyone, i am sure there will be cases when buyers were conned with bad items.

I have suggested this before, registration is the key to solve most problems. Change the rule, no nicks, register your full name with a proper email address. To advertise at BnS, pay annual subscription, otherwise cannot advertise. We like to insist on transparency with our government, but most prefer to hide behind 'nicks', I don't see why unless one has something to hide. Finally, if CS thinks our 'photography community' is matured enough, do something so that this forum does not attract those who are here only for profiteering thru whatever means.

a) wats to prevent people from giving a fake name and a use-once email address?
b) how much should the annual subscription so much so that people are willing to pay?

while, in my personal capacity (not as a mod), i do empathise with honest folks here, the main purpose of CS is not buy/sell of photo stuff. it is meant as a sharing platform for photography. for better or worse, the buy/sell sections have more or less taken over the real purpose of CS in the last few years. the admins/mods simply do not have the resources to regulate sales, and neither it is in our interest to police except to warn everyone 'buyer beware'.

we can think of 100 ways to deter, but they will think of 101 ways to overcome

1. During registration, insist on NRIC/PP numbers and proper name according to these documents. Flicker insist on registered email address like Starhub.net and they disallow gmail, yahoo etc..

2. A small amout of S$ 24 to 48 a year. This will also accord paid members different status and privileges like advertising in a special section of BnS.

Toss this around and I am sure members can come up with more ideas.

Dear Anthony Lee,

I understand that you might be upset with your previous buying or selling from a culprit, which I believe that most of the buyer or seller here is a sincere person.

If CSnap will charge $24 to $48 for registration fee just to create Buy/Sell advertising, and introduce a new status just because of that registration, I believe most of the people here will not agree with you.

Since when the B/S sections become commercialize? :(

Just enounter a bad ethnic sellers from the Forums

This guy posting to selling 14-140mm Panasonic lens which stated it can be used by Olympus EP1 at a cheaper price. On the advert, he stated 7 days warranty, and he was working late that night when we do the transaction (around 1030pm). When i get back home and try, i couldnt focus using aperture mode for all range. I called him and he say is not his problem, this is panasonic problem and refuse to return my money even though i lhave tried to upload my cam body firmware as per suggested by him. He asked me to go upgrade the LENS firmware...i asked him how to download since i do not have any panasonic cam. He has the new panasonic cam but he refused to assist me on this, stating that this is not his problem and he can ignore me since he has got the money. After 2 hours of argument, and i threatened to report him to police and clubsnap, he then unwillingly agreed to return my money. I think i need to report this to the clubsnap to
prevent future clubsnap forumer been conned

Oh i saw he is posting again with this lens on Olympus & Panasonic B n S session, beware....

I have similar experience. Not that bad thought.

Sometimes it makes me wonder weather CS is a junkyard or junk sales place. Some people are here to dump off their faulty, malfunction or problematic equipment. (No offence to CS moderators and creators. Just my 2cents)

My case was partially my fault I did not check the good before I left the spot as I was in a rush. Upon checking when I arrive home, I realize the condition was very bad. Not like the pictures or rating posted on the thread and seller did not mention there was flaws with the goods.

And when I send for evaluation of the SLR, the camera technician says need probably $500 to re haul everything when I already purchase the SLR at $140. The shutter curtain was about to tear, dings on the lens barrel(so bad that filter cannot fit in), huge amount of dust in lens and light seals leaking. However the exterior or the SLR body was in decent condition.

Now wondering to sell off the camera as spare/scavage for $20 or so or to keep it as a lesson learnt.

I do not wish to point finger here. But I do wish to remind buyer beware. Because there are a some mean seller wish to dump their goods and earn a sum out of it because Singapore second hand camera market demand quite high price for certain items.

When you feel uncomfortable, I think can just tell the seller "Sorry. I feel uncomfortable and cancel the deal" and walk away.
