hello there. May I request that if anyone already bought the new sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 hsm, kindly post the price and shop at the pricelist.

thank you everyone. merry christmas.

i'm more interested in the review of this lens. haha

I noticed with the new format and policy for the price guide (only one or two contributor can make changes to the price guide instead of everyone can provide updates to it) has reduced the updates from the fellow ClubSnap forumers. The new format does provide a more orderly format to the guide but what good will that make if the price is not update.

I would suggest to fellow CSers to send in the new quotes whenever you received them so we can make the price guide as update as as useful as possible.

Agreed. This new system is just NOT working. Under the old scheme, whenever I receive a new price, I change it immediately in this forum. Update is slow in the new scheme.

I prefer the previous open thread on the forum. Hopefully, the moderators can look into this?

did you guys pm the price update?
you can pm to me as well

so far the price guides that i update are up to date

the new system makes the price guides cleaner and easier to navigate
without all the extra OT

IMHO, under new system, most CSer reluctant to send PM to contributor.

No offense to anyone, and I am not complaining or blaming. My own experience is, I sent once to contributor then the contributor only update after 4 whole days. He might be busy. Or just happen to be away from being able to online. I'm totally understand. But with this, it really makes me a bit reluctant to continue send my PM next time.

Slowly, more CSer just chit chat sharing price over threads, seems it is an easier way (to many people)

So I just wonder any other ways to improve? Maybe invite / ask for more contributor?

p/s To ortega, I do not know we can also send PM to you, thought only to contributor.

one good example of a price guide gone haywire

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150613

it all started out fine, then as time goes by the post will start to go haywire
some member who might not know that they need to add to the previous list
will just post the new item on an individual post
instead of by copy and pasting the previous list and then add their new entry

it takes alot of effort to keep all the price guides in check
be patient as the contributors and moderators are doing this for the community
on a voluntary basis. we don't get paid

the price guides benefit all the members of this community
and will only work if the member contribute the price updates

without price updates, the price guides will be outdated

I do not have any issue with 4 days to update. This is not a stock market or SGX where they earn tons of $, of course it has to be updated instantly. But 4 days or even a week is not a big issue of life and death, here.

At least it get updated. As Ortega mentioned the contributors and mod are not paid and are volunteers so please have some understanding on this.

I think the new system is better, as it is much easier to find the latest prices. Maybe people just need more time to become aware of how to report their updates?

I agree that the new format can maintain a cleaner way for people to look up the price. The only thing we might want to do is to educate/encourage people to send in their quotes to make the price list up-to-date. I do send the equotes in even if I did not make the purchase since official equotes should be considered valid price already.

I think people who get the benefit from looking up the price list should contribute back and not only one way traffic. Wish more people can understand this...

I am not complaining, as I have stated, I just trying to say (as in my previous post), is there other ways to improve, such as ask/ request for more volunteers to be contributor.

also, most eQuote only last for 1 weeks, IMO, after 4 days, it is a bit late.

As stated many times in the past; a price guide is a price guide ie Just a "Guide".

It does no bind the retailers to this guide nor CS will hold the retailers to this price they quote. Hence whether 1 day, 10 days or 100 days it is just a "GUIDE" , nothing more than that.

Cos ultimately the buyer still need to check the final price before any purchase.

a quick price update can be very helpful specially for those new items on the market and is not yet on the list. not required to do so, but will be appreciated by most CSers i guess.

I suggest getting the shops to provide their weekly pricelist updates to Clubsnap... something like what the shops are doing for HWZ.
