It was originally a sharp picture edge-to-edge. Then i simulated a tilt-shift using gradient mask in GIMP.
Tilt-shift will give the toy-model look on certain photos.

skypacker - nice use of the kit lens. i always wonder what to do with my kit lens as i had accumulated a few other lenses. judging from the beautiful shots of yours, maybe i will use them to shoot some night scene!!

Some low speed panning attempts with a 30mm. Effects not very pronounced, I think I'll try with a longer lens next time.

Here are some more with the kit lens-I.
Stopped down to f/8, and stuck on a tripod, the kit lens-I is passable as long as you don't pixel peep.;p
