i focused on the lit grass first, then switched to manual focusing, and used a moderately high f/stop. bump up iso to make sure no motion blur. was actually shooting the trees, then saw people coming, tried cyclists didn't work so was lucky the dog and master came along.

exif data: f/13, 1/125 sec, iso 400.. :)

sir...why do you focus on the grass? to read the exif setting? den switch to M, upped the f-stop?

btw, am i wrong to ask in this thread? i'm so sorry..

because the dog and master are not around yet, and i don't want to miss the moment because my camera af failed to lock properly.

why not shadow - no contrast there based on lighting condition. grass still has texture, can lock correctly and accurately for sure.

why manual? wind blowing, and i want the moment quickly when i get one opportunate one. if it flies to af and tries to focus lock again, i might miss it. :)

the depth of field is required in this photo, so upping to f/11 to f/13 is probably best. also the lens i was using (fa 35-80) seems to be sharper at f/11 than f/8. hope this helps.

CREEPY CRAWLIE ALERT!!!

This guy appeared at home last night, the span of the legs was almost 10cm I think. But it totally didn't mind modelling for me. :) Tamron 90mm with a bit of cropping.

Spiders, beautifully captured. How was lighting taken? Saw soft shadows here. Mind sharing.

Thanks! The spider was standing on the wall almost right at a corner of the room, near the ceiling. So I swiveled the flash to bounce off the wall on the right. I suppose being at a corner means that the ceiling also acts as another diffuser to provide fill-in from the top

Thanks, Gengh.

I would go further to explore on flash and diffirent diffusers for my macro. My next stage of learning on flash or multiple flashes. Seems interesting.

Saw Vladimir A. Yarets at one of the street in KL. For those who are not familiar with him. Vladimir is the first deaf person to have found determination and courage and set into a round-the-world trip on a motorbike.
