Hi istDS
Care to share what settings you used for the fishes? I tried to take the fishes at the Ocean Park in Hong Kong and they turned out as disasters. The camera's auto exposure time was > 2 sec and images came out blurred.
Any tips would be appreciated.
cheers

I shoot in AV mode most of the time, the pics are shoot with K10D and kit lens with SR on.

1st pic - kit lens@38mm, 1/60sec, F4.5, ISO 800
2nd pic - kit lens@55mm, 1/30sec, F5.6, ISO 800

The fishes are shoot from aquarium, although the surrounding lightings are poor, the light from the aquarium helps to get a better exposure. Inside the underwater tunnel, i am not able to take any good pic. Below a pic taken inside the tunnel.

18mm, 1/6sec, F5.6, iso800

Thanks istD.
I thought you were using the istD! ;)
amazing you managed to get such short expsoure times. I tried to set to ISO800 and widest aperture as possible and yet the shutter time can be 0.5 to 3 seconds. Even the SR will not be able to compensate for that, I think..a number of times the focus kept on hunting too.

Hi all,

I took some photos in the Underwater World using a Sony DSC-S40 compact camera (haven't buy my K10 yet) in auto mode during my last visit too.

Just wanna share a pic from a recent trip to Urbana, IL.
This was right after 18 inches of snow at a temperature of about -15C.

Hey Vulpix0r, nice to see your FA300/4.5 in action already :) Nice shots, and they'd be even better if you get closer to the subjects ;)

Something like these (K10D+F300/4.5):

I would like to do that too, but the birds get scared away quite easily... Specially those cuckoo birds!:bheart:

cool Vulpix0r, you managed to get the FA300 f/4.5. Hopefully one day i can get hold of one at a reasonable price also. At the mean time use the 80-320mm.:bsmilie:

Both of you veterans share some bird stalking tips leh...:bsmilie:

Nice shot fengwei, how you managed to get so close to those birds.:bsmilie:

Thanks.

I think the easiest way is, you just sit there and wait for them coming to you ;) There are alot birds by the big pond at the center of SGB, where people feed the fishes. The birds over there are not so afraid of people. Sometimes they can get too close for you to even have a full body shot :D

You can even feed them like this:
