I am using the Manfrotto 190, good enuff..
If your lens not too heavy, can check the SILK one.. there is an extremely portable one, sprint pro or something. I b using that one when I go tour. Manfrotto one I using it locally.

ALL DSLR (If u understand the meaning of Digital Single Lens Reflex) except Olympus E330 and Panasonic DMC-L1, DO NOT, repeat DON'T... HAVE IMAGE PREVIEW!

 Arhhh, sh|tttt!!!!..zzz :bheart:

Time to get a Pirate Eye Patch liao...

You know, with an LCD Preview, there's so much of angle i can take picture from, which helps in creative phototaking... Sooner or later, Canon and Nikon should come out with the LCD Preview to replace the viewfinder!!! ;(

i suggest u stick to pns first.... reconsider getting DSLR
using DSLR does not guarentee good pics just fyi...

cheers

I'm puzzled. After your discussion in the VR zone, you still do not have a good idea of what the D80 have and not have ?

If you cannot live without using LCD to compose your shots, I guess as someone had mentioned, get the Oly.:)

Or stick to prosumers.

Btw, having a live LCD on a DSLR, is power consuming i heard.

i think anyone who have use optical viewfinder would not go for LCD preview, unless no choice :)

yes i would think so too... LCD sux a lot of juice

And i think anyone who had ever use a realtime live LCD Preview would gloat over the puny viewfinder :sticktong

If i have only 1 eye, maybe a viewfinder would be much easier to use..

Seriously, if u ever given a choice, would you prefer a puny viewfinder or a spacious LCD to compose ur shot?

Last i heard, Samsung produced a DSLR with a live LCD Preview.

Sadly, only Canon and Nikon are the main player in DSLR... zzz...

And perhaps you would consider filters; UV, CPL, ND etc :)

cannot record video also you know

live LCD preview do not give you sharp details. Digital can NEVER beat optical.

if you want to compose from other angles get the angle finder to assist you. D80's viewfinder is big enough.

I be delighted to use the viewfinder if it was at least 1-inch in diameter!!!
With existing viewfinders, you really have to squint your eyes..

On a side note, r there any angle finder which are 1-inch in diameter? :(

nothing beats what you see is what you get theory.

i cannot use LCD to compose anymore. it just doesn't feel right.

it's right. dun get the sigma 70-200. get the nikon 80-200 instead. you will definitely be a happier man.

if you have tight budget, and u want live preview. u wan fast.

sorry. go for PNS.

u complain here and there.

come to think of it. i believe you didnt do enough research on what is DSLR and what is a PNS.

if you think DSLR will solve your problems in photography. think again.

i've seen a whole BUNCH of people wanting to buy DSLR to solve their problem in photography or worse, to act pro.

this is a long term investment. think twice before putting your money down.

want big viewfinder ? want fast. want live preview. Canon S3Pro IS. problem solved. wan long tele ? buy tele lens attachment and put.

I am really wondering if you ever did shoot thru a SLR camera before?

The image thru a SLR is much MUCH sharper and clearer than a LCD screen (which may break, fail or have glare at the most importune time)

And if you are still worried about not being able to shoot thru a VF... go for a simple PnS. Forget the SLRs. ;p

Any proper manufacturer worth their salt WILL never bother with live preview screens... Too much waste of camera battery.

with VF have to squint eyes meh?

you can dun squint mah...nobody ask u too...its you say one mah...

D80 VF already so big...

Think u get the G7 better...dun bother with all these...too much problem for you...

So buy Olympus e330 or Panasonic DMC-L1 lah... It will suit your need.

Arto.

Not suitable, I take ur set at 70% of ur purchase price !

I'm complaining meh!!??? :sticktong :sticktong

George Bernard Shaw once wrote "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

Feedbacks & complaints are the best driving force in innovation. Trust me, few years from now, you will even see Nikon n Canon put a live LCD Preview in their DSLRs.
Human needs n wants = money to be made. ;)

I'm a graphic designer. I need a good camera system to supplement my design works, not to show off. And for that matter, even the most humble of the lot will sure to have some traces of 'vanity' in their blood.
