Pictures from RX100

It's really a wonderful camera, buttons and dials are all at the right place, I can hold and shoot in a more discreet way, and one-hand operation! Took a walk down colorful haji lane and made some test shots.

Been a while since i last visited haji lane, saw many new trendy stuff and lots of huge unsightly dustbins lining up along the side of the lane which I tried really hard to avoid capturing them in the photos.

nice colors.. guess the zeiss is really put into good use on this sensor... guess the RX1 will be more awesome wif the Full Frame sensor, using the same zeiss optics...

agree, am very please to see the characteristics of Zeiss and T* coating in a compact class camera like this, the RX1 will be an awesome machine, but guess size wise not quite as 'pocketable'.

Think if u need to factor in the hotshoe viewfinder, probably not very pocketable... n oso the zeiss lens on the RX1 does not retract but for bigger jacket pockets, still good enuff to just put it in...

Pocketable or not is so subjective.. It really depends on how big is your pocket is that day or on your usual clothings :bsmilie:

For me. I will say RX100 and RX1 are very good size for me. They are Pocketable to me.. But not the Nex E mounts..although others claim it to be as well.

Actually, i haf tried putting my previously owned NEX 7 wif the 16mm pancake lens into my jacket pocket... still pocketable.. ;p

just wear something more baggy to pocket larger cameras...:bsmilie:...size aside, that FF sensor in a compact body is one big achievement worth mentioning, let's see how things unfold in Dec :) ...yes, vario-sonnar T* ...pop!

picked up a unit in Tokyo 48 hours ago, just for kicks - and also because the price was ridiculously good ~ 690 SGD.

On a very random sidenote, realized that I needed a point and shoot camera because most of the time, the average person isn't comfortable/used to using a Leica/DSLR... at least in my experience.

This is the singular best point and shoot that I have used in my life, and I've been shooting digital for about ~ 9+ years now. Highly recommended. There is still some degree of noise at the higher ISOs, but for my purposes. I am satisfied.

I am honestly very impressed, and if the RX100 is already this good, can only imagine the full power of the RX1 unleashed...

Earlier this year, I wrote my "comprehensive" thoughts on the D800E, and to be honest, I'd grab the RX100 for simple short travel vacations now, over the need to optimize every ounce of resolution.

Start up time is fast, closing off time when shutting down the camera is a little bit slow. My other side hobby is cycling, so I intend to have this in my back pocket when cycling. Most of these shots were taken whilst cycling around Tokyo the past few days. You get to see a great deal in a shorter period of time, can stop whenever to take pretty interesting pictures, and less tired by the end of the day...

For me, I typically shoot in color for the vast majority of my work, and prefer punchy, saturated colors, with reasonably natural skin tones. The raw files are excellent for post production, coming out of a point and shoot. I'm not a sticker fussy person for sharpness, and I am happy.

Other than that, the lens does suffer from softening into a more classical dreamy rendering when shooting wide open at close distances. I've also observed this on the macro mode setting on the Fuji X100, which was also a very enjoyable camera to shoot with back in the days...

Dynamic range is above average. I wouldn't rate it as outstanding with my prior experiences on the H4D-50, M9, D800E... but is it good enough? It sure is.

All pictures have gone through my personal post production in lightroom, I think so far, so good. If you are on the fence about buying this camera, I'd say, just get it and use it and be happy.

Thanks for sharing, it looks amazing actually... a bit torn between a NEX-6 and this compact... I have run through too many compacts and been disappointed... and that includes Fuji bridge cameras... disappointed with image quality and low light ability and lack of ability to bounce flash...
