Pictures from RX100

and a few more

DSC00201.jpg

ISO 125 f7.1 1/500 sec

DSC00200.jpg

same as above, shot in Black and white mode - this mode works great, and perfect if u want to feel like ur shooting b/w film i.e. no option to change back to color! - can adjust contrast etc, if necessary to increase contrast, in-camera

DSC00110.jpg

and just one more - this one was handheld - ISO 1600 f4.0 1/6 sec (SteadyShot ON)

Some portraits of a friend. Amazing what such a small camera can do... looks as good as my NEX7 (getting close to the a900)...

zoom mode, slower shutter speed to blur out the fence :bsmilie:

just noticed a bit of distortion in the corner of some images at the wide angle end, and took a couple of shots to investigate a bit. kinda noticeable in these shots, especially the first two - dont u think? is this normal?

DSC00521.jpg

the lower left corner seems distorted

DSC00522.jpg

both the objects on either side seem a bit distorted too

DSC00525.jpg

and here, where i expected it to show more, it shows less (to me, at least!)

maybe im a bit paranoid, but i wanna see if this is normal..i cant remember seeing this in earlier pics i took on the same camera, but i may be mistaken! but i'd hate to think i got a faulty unit. lol. i posted some pics earlier, on the top of this page, and the end of the previous page too, have a look! plz make any comments if u've used this camera and u can compare the wide angle results with me. thanks!

Yeah, distortion is perfectly normal at wide angle. In fact, the lens is actually 24mm equivalent, but it already crops away a lot to correct distortions.

thanks Rashkae! i thought i was missing some distortion correction setting or something. glad to note its normal. cheers!

It would be a lot worse without the distortion correction. Just shoot in RAW to get an idea. :-)

haha i see. i just gave it a quick shot comparing JPEG and RAW but couldnt really see a huge difference - maybe the examples i took were wrong to show it. anyway, im not complaining - i just took the same shot with my DSLR's kit lens at the wide end and noticed very similar results. just wanted to check if this is normal and nothing to worry about. now i should get back out and start using this thing more!

Just took a test shot at building across with maximum zoom (taken within enclosed glass windows of my office), and was pleasantly surprised how resolving this small little camera can do.

Apologies for heavily resized the original photo from 20mpx to fit 15inch monitor in imageshack. Both pictures using jpg to crop and 2nd photo is heavily affected in IQ after a few changes made to the initial jpg.
Take a look at the cropped number of the building (arrow pointed at original area):

For day shots, the sharpness and resolution is exceptional for this small compact!
