which one you like bro?

BTW my Jupiter-9 its 1967 build so this is way older than me but still working great the cron is slightly younger lens :-)

PS I'll do one day test shot all my 85/90 primes :-)

Depends on d shot bro. Classic lenses gives very soft dreamy rendering which is good for portrait shots.

Modern lenses r good for buildings n landscape.

Actually, depends on yr preferences too.

Tatz y I got d pre asph summilux 35 coz d XF 35mm lens from Fuji on my X-E1 is already super clinically sharp n thus I dun really need d cron asph 35 anymore. Haha

yeah same for me bro :-) that's why I have multiple same focal range lenses and a lot ask me why? I told them coz each lens differs, each has it's own character... I dont go technical when it comes to lens to me I go for how it renders the image, sometimes the lens flaws is actually the one that makes it unique and interesting like this Jupiter-9 it's renders differently than my FL 85/1.8 or Cron 90/2 or even Elmarit 90/2.8....

My only E-mount AF Native Lens :-) (Sigma 19/2.8)

This lens is not that bad although for a prime it suffers from barrel distortion which is auto corrected in body (if you use jpeg) but raw you need to correct this manually

Nice shots. How does it compare with the 18-55 at 19mm at f3.5? Both the Siggy 19 and 30f2.8 are value for money lenses but I have always wondered how much better they are against the kit 18-55 at the same focal lengths.

Thanks bro sadly i cant compare this sigma 19mm with 18-55 as i dont have nor used this lens, but stepping down the sigma to f3.5 is even sharper the sweet spot of this lens seems to be at f5.6-f7 based on my experience. I heard good things with these sigma cheap primes for m4/3 and nex.

Previously I haf done side by side comparison on the photos by 18-55 & Sigma 19 on different apertures. 18-55, u haf to really stop down to f/5.6 to reap the sharpness needed. At f/3.5, it is just not sharp enuff and details are not rendered well enuff compared to the Sigma 19.

Sigma 19 performs very well even wide open @ f/2.8 and optimum sharpness and IQ kicks in around f/5.6 - f/8. Even @ f/5.6, Sigma 19 still performs better than the 18-55. Just my 2 cents worth.

Many thanks for your input. I will try out the Siggy 30f2.8 soon, or maybe wait for the E 35f1.8. Need at least one good AF lens in this FL for convenience.

btw bro the pix posted using sigma 19/2.8 are shot wide open :-) just that it this wide prime suffers from some barrel distortion using LR you need to adjust roughly +3 to +5 to correct the distortion. better than what you see on those kits lens like 18-55

Yeah. There r some but negligible. I totally dun use my 18-55 n sold it off after getting d 19 sigma n CV 35-1.7 n Cron 35 ASPHs lenses. Haha

i still have my black 18-55mm. won't sell it, because i might need it some day :bsmilie:

you can bring it on your travels where you will just shoot casually :-) 18-55 focal range is still somewhat useful rather than bring two or more lenses with you on your trip :-)

PS the black 18-55 looks good also on NEX-7 :-)

It's a versatile lens but I sort of given up on it after using it for awhile (less than a month). Will be interesting to see the IQ from the new 16-50 lens though. Any links?

This may be a little bit OT but since we are discussing about the kit 18-55, here is a simple test pitting my Nikkor 28f2.8, a very reputable lens, against the kit at 28mm, both shot one after the other with available light. f4, ISO 800, on my 5N. Both were shot in raw, did the same tone curve on CS5 and output as jpec.

Which is which?

Yeah, guessing game again... LOL

1. Nikkor 28

2. Kit Lens 18-55

Correct? I just compare the details on the white eraser & the edge sharpness on the keyboard keys on the left...
