Pictures from Nex-5N

hi everyone ,

just a question regarding the miniature mode.

is it possible for the whole image to be in focus?

as i saw most of the option are of certain areas only , like top , bottom , left or right etc.

whole image in focus won't have the miniature effect already.

google tilt shift.

CAN ! ...just get out of the special filters mode to A mode and dial your aperture to F-16 ...the whole image will be in focus. :D

I wouldnt suggest going above F11 unless really necessary. Lens diffraction kicks at about F8- F11

The miniature mode should be just a post process, an image filter. It shouldn't have anything to do with the F-stop. Even if everything is in focus it is supposed to simulate a shallow DoF otherwise there will be no miniature effect.

just tried it.. even if going A mode and setting to high F stop won't work.

i guess the blurred effect is just part of the miniature mode~

your high F-stop.. is it single digit or double digit?

miniature mode is a picture filter effect, regardless if your F stop is single or double digit it will still have blur effect..
only middle strip about 1/3 of the frame will be in focus, hence giving it miniature effect. the rest of the area looks very shallow DOF (blur effect). The other unique thing about miniature mode is the vibrant color, more than any other modes.

Bro, this one too cheem for TS aredi lah ! ;) ...We are all struggling to help him understand the concept that Macro/Miniature photography involves very thin DOF which is why "the whole image" is not in focus.

Yup, it's an optical illusion *CAUSED* by the blur. No blur, no effect.
