Pictures from Nex-5N

The low light capabilities of the 5N sensor never fails to impress me.

#8 - Tried some Arty Farty shots with the single color effects filters (1/50s f2.8, ISO400, SAL35f1.8 with LA-EA2)

#9 - also played with the Miniture effect filter (1/160 f5.6, SAL35f1.8 with LA-EA2)

#10 - With all the fantastic features of this camera, HDR, Retro, etc, I think this photo says it the best, otherwise Eddie'll whack you with that rod in his hand.

Yup, thats right ! ...went overboard with the 5N features

Was at the park with my Pentax M 200f4 snapping children and dogs running around. Most shots were at ISO 800 and some appeared quite noisy as I didn't bother to remove them. All shot wide open.

Portrait in natural light taken at ISO3200. This camera is spectacular at high ISOs!

Are those OOC ? ...I'm surprised at the noise level since they're ISO 800 ?

No, I shoot raw. They were cropped and I did not do any noise reduction on CS5, too lazy, as I seldom shoot ISO 800 outdoor. The children and animals were running about and I had to keep my shutter atleast 1/500. Will re-process them tonight and see how as I am not very good doing such things.

This is the actual uncropped version of one of them and even without NR it seems noisy. Have not experienced this with my other lenses. Same processing as with all my other photos. Any clues?

Did you turn off NR? You can try shoot RAW + jpeg and compare, noise also depends on sharpness and contrast settings. also underexpose images can be noisy
I found bumping the contrast up more than +1 can make a human subject look really old.. lol

unbelievable details even at 3200! most cameras can only crave for such clean and sharp pics even at iso 1600 :p

There's very noticable color banding on the blue background in the Huskie photo.
Perhaps you could try shooting RAW + Jpeg and see if there's any different, I suspect CS5 could be the culprit.

Will try. There were many blue benches and coloured flooring around the circular playround which make them look like color banding in the OOF area. I am not too concerned about that. I am more concerned about noise at ISO 800. I did very little processing except readjusting the tone curve and slight sharpening. So far, the 5N is quite accurate with A mode and I don't really need to adjust exposure. Anyway, will try to do a Raw n jpec shoot and see the difference. Thanks.

By the way, when shoot raw, high ISO NR is disabled automatically.

Re-adjusted my PP on CS5. What do you think of this?

Bro, that spider is the same species as what we have in Singapore except that they are EVERYWHERE and they are twice as BIG (9 - 10 in) ! ...took that photo around 5 ft away with max zoom (didn't dared go any nearer in case the fella jumped on me !)

With spider that large, no need for Macro, unless you wanna take photo of it's jaws.
This one was on a rock and at first I thought it was a Lobster ! :bsmilie:
