Photozone: Most current NEX lenses are not good enough for the NEX-7!

Before you guys go ahead and BBB.... a few things to consider, given the costs:

The price is quite close between 3 top lenses (Zeiss Biogon 35mm F2, Voigtlander 35mm F1.2, Carl Zeiss 24mm F1.8).

From lower price to higher:
CZ24>CZ35>CV35

CZ24 F1.8:
- has AF and it is a F1.8
- sharp lens which is better than all other kit lenses, but not as sharp as Zeiss 35mm or Voigtlander 35mm F1.2
- Can only be used on Nex - cannot be used on other bodies

CZ35 F2 Biogon:
- Sharper than CZ24, but has obvious magenta casting
- smallest lens of the 3 lenses
- can be used on other bodies with different adapter since it is a M mount manual lens

CV35 F1.2 Nokton V2:
- Sharper than CV35 Biogon from F2 onwards, no visible magenta casting. F1.4 is a plus and it is very sharp at F1.4. At F1.2 it is still useful with nice glow and superb for night shots
- largest lens of the 3 lenses, and the most highly priced with best quality built.
- can be used on other bodies with different adapter since it is a M mount manual lens

About similar amount of money to be spent, better compare before you buy.

My Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 V2 stays on the Nex 7 most of the time, and the Zeiss 35mm F2 Biogon is only used with my M9, as Voigtlander 35mm seems more well balanced on the Nex 7 with better IQ.

Some of the price reference from eBay on the Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 V2

Hope can get a good piece cheaper than these in SG... Still waiting for the PM for the shops... Thanks.

i don't like messy and harsh bokeh.

Neither do I. CZ lenses give very good Bokeh & 3D Pop Out effect. Dunno abt Voigtlanders...

I think short of the 35mm fle (haven't tried)... This one works best on the Nex 7 based on all 35 mm that I've tried

35mm Cron taken wif a Ricoh GXR, nice colours and no PP.

The next best alternative has got to be the Contax G35... No purple fringing and sharpness doesn't lose out to the biogon or cv

Love the way the biogon renders just such a waste cos of the purple fringing on the Nex 7

The Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 has nicer and smoother bokeh with better 3D pop to me. Very close to my Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH in sharpness, bokeh and smoothness.

so between the 2 (CZ Biogon and Voigtlander), which one gives the best OOF area and "3D popping out" effect?

No need to search eBay as can get local set cheap and safe. There's always used set sold by local hiadee here.

Bought mine at $1600 only.

Great. Start camping in BnS. :p

35 f2 cron is nicer, as it is smaller.

But voigtlander 35mm is cheaper and supposed to be very close in IQ compared to a 35 Summilux f1.4!

V2 is an improved version which is sharper and smaller. Useable from f1.2 with dreamy bokeh and can focus from 0.5m. Better quality and has very solid rotation of the aperture click.
Very sharp from F1.4, and extremely sharp from F2. Reviews claimed that it is as good as a Leica 35mm f1.4 Summilux (non FLE).
Brand new retail price is $1,600.

V1 is good also, but a bit hazy and some has back focus problem (if used on a Leica M). Should be ok to use on a Nex 7 using focus peaking.
Read reviews that V1 has contrast issue at F1.2-F1.4, thus not very useful at widest aperture.
Brand new retail price quite a few years back was at $1,200-$1,300.

Watz d diff between V1 & V2?

Oic... V2 it is then... After kei1309...

How could a presumed back focus problem be relevant on a body that utilizes focus peaking?

I mean back focus problem if I use it on my M9P. Should be fine to use when using focus peaking.
