The Porta sure looks good for people shots to me.
Pretty model too.

I like the clean lighting.
What did you use to diffuse the flash?

The new porta even gives better skin tone. This 160VC is expired already and no longer in production.
She's from Johor Bahru :bsmilie:

Styrofoam plate, single flash light.

Cheap and good.
So far this is still one of the best options out there.

A friend of mine tried a plastic white plate and was quite happy with it, though I can't say he's an 'advanced' macro shooter.
Nonetheless, I saw one sample pict and it looked good.
So maybe thats an option too over the styrofoam one which breaks apart.

incidental model
just a split second
to capture
the posture
the stare-away
the innocence

Are you using white cloth or white seamless paper?
Do you have a cheap source either?

Using white cloth. What do u mean by cheaper source?

Or at least where you buy from.
I got mine from IKEA, creases like hell, don't know if somewhere else sells cheaper or better cloth. (textile center??)

Mine also crease like hell. But I found that if u get enough studio clippers n pull n clip to the poles n tape the remaining nicely on the ground . The crease can be reduce significantly
