For me, strobing and learning all the camera know-how, ultimately is not about models and such, but about family.

The FA43ltd has got to be my most used indoor portrait lens.
Super sharp just stopped down a little and probably at its sharpest around f4 and f5.6
Also easily going down to f1.9-f2.8 for shallower DOF shots.

200mm. Photo cropped a bit. Think the best focal length should be 300mm at that location and preferably sit at the last few rows to shoot over the fences. Such a pity that I didn't try slower shutter speed than 1/80 for the panning shots. Should have experiment with even slower shutter since location was good

Wah.. I have problem shooting when i using with 1/250 at my side, but you can still manage 1/80. need to learn more liao.

My shots from my stands, however, i was using only 77.. too lazy to bring long lens to shoot.. So most of my pictures are cropped. Over the fences shot:

Others race shots:

My first time panning such fast machines...keepers were zero at the initial rounds but after so many cars passing by, eventually get a hang of panning. but by that time, my arms already super tired from hand holding the heavy 70-200. anyway there is always next year's race to practise panning shots again ;)

wow nice shots....77 is really a wonderful lens! And you managed to shot of the taxi ride by Webber! Which turn were you at?

Thanks thanks.. Yup I was at Turn 7, Stamford Grandstand.. Was a happening area for me this year. So much Action at there this year. :)

Actually I am getting lazy to shoots those fast machine. Too tiring panning and I hate those fences. My first attempt was during 2010 using the K7, with my shutter was around 1/160. Shot at the Padang area.. Dunno why I can't get those quality last time. Maybe old liao.. too slow panning lolx..

I still find that one of the best light modifiers is a simple bounced flash off at an angle to the side of the wall or ceiling.
Mimics window light, soft, effective and no need to buy/setup modifiers

haha I tried to focus on the Water lily itself. Looks a little soft when I zoomed in close though :/

Hmmmm...perhaps you went too close.

The lily may be moving in the pond, if shutter speed too slow, it may blur or no focus.

Shouldn't used slow shutter speed for outdoor daylight...
Other factors includes shot at wide open with shallow DOF....plus breeze..
Perhaps Grey Knight share the settings.
