A detour from the usual stuff I shoot and certainly a learning experience for me.
This was for a friend who ran a small stall.
The setup was ad-hoc as I had thought they had 'everything arranged'
Turns out that it wasn't the case.
White paper for the table purchased in a nearby stationary store.
Another piece used as a reflector on the left.
Bkgnd was a textured wall.
1 light from softbox on right
1 bkgnd light on the rear and below of table.
Kangaroo Burger with foie gras
Taken with K30 + Vivitar 55/2.8 macro
Edit :
Here's the setup.
Comments are welcome.
I probably did not notice quite a few details.
Thanks for set up shot, I have not tried food in studio light setup, but I think it's interesting.
Just my observation so the photo would make me want to eat the burger.
1. I thought the burger bun the lower bun should be visible, otherwise the burger felt incomplete.
2. The sliced cheese should not be melted like in photo, better to place a nice shaped cheese after the burger meat cool down, then the cheese look better.
3. Thought the burger cut side should be trimmed to make it straight edges instead of in photo has zagged edges.
4. If you can add some artificial steam smoke better still , but don't know how .
Thanks.
Really helpful comments.
Yeah, I found the missing lower bun odd too.
The vege makes it look like a skirt.
I also learned that most stuff, actually better to partly cook or don't cook (eg. patty, pineapple, bun, beet).
Nice catch on not melting the cheese.
Too many things done on the fly, should have worked closely with the chef on creating a food suitable for photography rather than just let him cook it as usual.
