Was at Labrador Park yesterday and came across this "fruit". Anyone can identify it? Every time I go there I normally see the flowers only.

Hi,it's known as the barringtonia asiatica or you can call it fish poison tree, putat or sea poison tree

2 from a recent daytrip to London.

I've been deliberating whether I should get Silver Efex. These were done in Photoshop with dodging and burning. Will I get significantly better results with Silver Efex?

With DA70

With Sigma 10-20 at ISO 3200.

I think flickr adds some sharpening when you upload making the noise more apparent?

Great pics!

Yes as what have been discussed before, only pro flickr account can get access to original image uploaded, any other size will be sharpened :(

my love hate relationship with 50-135 continue

love it for the IQ and flexibility

hate it for the weight n size which make it harder for street shots (i admit i am spoilt by pentax primes)

2. K5 with DA 15mm + O-GPS unit @ ISO6400 40 sec. Do take note, the O-GPS does not seem to take eneloop rechargeables. Fully charge 4 piece for this trip and got the shock of my life when the unit doesn't power up.

Slow day today.
Brought the kids to the usual walkabout, but finally tried something that I've wanted to try for quite a while but never got down to doing.

8584145361_f895b84a4f_c.jpg

K30; FA50/1.4; Stitched pano (9 frames)

Its a stitched pano, otherwise known as Brenizer technique (popularized by Ryan Brenizer).
Upon stitching my first trial shot, my thoughts immediately think of how the FA50 would actually look (almost like this) on FF.
"Well there are FF cameras already available from another brand" the cynic might say
Yes, but not at this size of a lens (smaller and there are lots of such smaller lenses on Pentax) and not the same rendering/contrast and richness of color that I'm seeing here.
I'm thinking of how the Ltds would look with this technique.....

If a Pentax FF does come out one fine day, I'm sure the existing lenses will be at least 1.5x better :D

Technical part, I've got lots to learn and improve on.
9 frames don't often cut it.
Some trials, I have gaps in the stitch.
The shots also end up being in square or portrait like format due to lack of shots taken on the left and right sides.

Those interested in this technique, why not try and post samples here and we can discuss?
(ie. lens used; aperture; shooting method; etc)

my first week in brussels. weather's been quite bad since i landed... cold, wet, intermittent light snow but i was most surprised this morning when i woke up and was greeted with a thick white snow blanket on my balcony.

look for insects for macro. You will know tat those insects will freeze under those temperature. Hehe.. good for stitching as those will be still for you to capture many shots.

When I was in adelaide during winter last year, the spider was actually still and barely move when i tried taking many different angles. TAts the beauty of taking critters during winter

Coping well under those new environment?;)
