Besides the colourful head, the wings has got blue color too and not completely black (the id of this bird is Black Backed Kingfisher aka Oriental Dwarf KF)

This shot is not an easy one as the bird is hiding deep inside the bushes with a smal glimsp of sunlight shinning thru which makes the exposure tricky.
I fired few shots and all of them were over-exposed. Tried lowering the EV and still not ideal. In the end shot with bracketing + mirror lockup and stack the shots in PS.

Last month is a fruitful month for me though I only shoot 2 times:-
Another bird I waited for 2 yrs, the Asian Paradise Flycatcher (male), I only got shots of the female bird previously, this time I got the male bird at Panti Forest of Malaysia.
Not as clean shot as the above, this shot was shot at iso 4000, hope to shoot him again with lower iso.

Tip with mirror lens:

- as long as your background doesnt have strong spot light source or reflection source, there are no donuts bokeh, just smooth background bokeh

A little small for macro. why? did not extend to max magnification or macro lens not used:).Great subject, quite difficult to find fly blowing saliva.

took this today, viviatar macro and 21mm tubes, flash used, not cropped.

If its a macro lens, ie 1:1 magnification, you set your macro lens out to the maximum for 1:1. ie barel of the lens extend out or protrude out and then set your aperture to f11 to f16, then point to the fly by moving forward and backward to get it in focus. once you notice its sharp, trigger the shutter, usually 1/100 secs or 1/60 or 1/125 secs.

the fly shot is very artistic. a balance between subject and the empty space. go to show size is not everything. the spider is a rare subject. never seen before. *thumb up*
