Marcus, thanks.

Thats a very nice spider shot.
Have not been able to find one of them yet.
You also have a Kirk macro bracket?
What are your thoughts about side or 45deg lighting using such a bracket as opposed to 'in-your-face' style flash diffused by a styrofoam plate?
I seem to be finding that it gives the extra edge in bringing up hair and details, but balancing the setup is a pain.

Yes Jk. I have the kirk macro bracket bought direct from US.

On issue of lighting, best illumination comes with double flash for total elimination of any hard or soft shadows. Yes placing flash light in L shape position is the way for bringing out details.. AS using a single flash with a styrofoam attaching near the front macro lens, this method is more versatile but shadows could still be present often.

For portability and convenience, I prefer a single flash light with styrofoam. Two flash system is cumbersome to set up too and its heavy but when opportunity arise, it gives the best image possibilities..

LCD Loupe is a killer combo for K01 and Q.
1 shot 1 kill :D

Nice shots with your K135

Managed to squeeze out about 45mins in the night after settling all the children stuff.
Just went downstairs to try and take some macro.

Another trial of a new setup.
Q+F100 macro; Tripod; Metz48 mounted on camera with 3rd party softbox diffuser; YongNuo small LED light mounted to the side.
The LED light acts as searchlight as well as to help out in focusing at f8 in the dark.
Otherwise the LCD needs to boost gain to display the scene which will look very noisy on screen and make it hard to focus.

I think the softbox diffuser provides better lighting than my corrugated plastic sheet (better color temperature; better spread of light; better flash recycle time too)
I'm yet to try the styro foam plate (one reason being my dislike of the use and throw mentality associated with it that is adding to the tons of styrofoam waste that is already out there in our environment)

this is friggin awesome

i recall that u mentioned there's limitation to the flash sync speed when using the lens adaptor? how does that work?

With 3rd party adapter, max flash sync speed is 1/15 ('dismal') :(
But for macro its usually ok.
1. Iso125, f8 -usually the ambient does not add to the exposure. Only the flash does, and that is independant of shutter speed
2. Use tripod and timer or remote
