I am actually not seated near to the stage and was shooting at f1.8,first then shooting manual focus lens but this is from what i see in view finder that it is in focus, but very pixelised as i am using 1600 on the k7,will try to be seated more infront next time if i can or i am thinking did the pictures look out of focus due to me being seat far and using the f1.8?hoping to learn more and be a better shooter on manual lens..thanks

maybe can use f4 instead..even at f4 i have to admit that i do miss focus at times especially on k-x..k-01 is better as it has peaking mode for manual lenses

went for a walkabout at chinAtown last week.. some of the shoot taken with Ranchy

feel free to shoot/help me to improve on the shots so that i can improve..

i tot the pics looks more out of focus rather than slow shutter speed..i have been to the Esplanade outdoor area to take pics during the Mosiac Music Festival...i think the trick is to wait for the singers to stop moving..then quickly take a shot..need to anticipate..

if i rem correctly..this is taken with k135 at f4 1/180sec at iso 800

another taken with FA 77 at f2.4 1/90sec at iso 2200

with 50ish lens..u need to sit at the first or second row so that you will be closer..this is taken with helios 58m f2 while sitting at the first row

Hmm..Well I think Yamakasi maybe right, it will be best if you wait for the singers to stop moving or slow down in movement. However, sometime need to up shutter to 1/160 onwards as some of them move non-stop .. Low Light Manual Focus is challenging..

Some shots with my K7 - Takmuar 83 - 1/60 (No idea how i catch it) F2.4-F2.8 I think...

my K7 - Takmuar 83 - 1/180 F2.4-F2.8 I think...

K5 Takumar 83 - 1/80 F2? can't really remember.

Aiyoh.. i am also in the street shots.. lolx

Actually, even with auto lens, it's an struggle I felt for live concert shots. In the end, i try to prefocus and switch to MAnual .. Below are the betters shots I had.

K5 with FA85mm F1.8 1/80

K5 with FA85mm F1.6 1/125

K5 with FA85 F1.8 1/100

Low Light Manual Focus is challenging..I do agree on this statement, cant seemed to focus properly and also with full manual lens have to really focus at the bigger aparture then stop down,do not used to doing so yet as is my first time trying out..

Anw ranchy what iso you used for these shots?Very nice job there..

FA85 really deserve its reputation!

4th visit to Raffle marina Lighthouse - Was suppose to go somewhere else to shoot but my colleague forget to bring his tripod . After discussion , one of my friend drove us over to take tripod and nearest location is there - 25 April 2012 Raffle Marina Lighthouse sunset

Mostly around ISO800 - 1600.. Sometime depends on the lighting. The stage light at Esplanade always change, worst I hate the blue/purple stage light.

simon,

Your shots are magical.. You have improved so much.

Another shot that shows off the amazing DR capability of the K5. From dark doorway to sunlit compound outside.
All from a single exposure. Many other cameras would have needed to use HDR

I'm compiling some of my Yogyakarta shots and travel info here.

I've been looking at that thread... Waiting for you to finish posting, so that I can decide whether the only other photography trip I'll take this year will be there or to somewhere else!

I've never been there, but I know myself... Not enough seascapes or cityscapes, I will be bored. :p

Nice shots so far, and loads of information there.

Ok, I don't know why I keep using the fisheye lately... But here are some shots taken with the Pentax FE 10-17mm and the K5..

Nice shots with the FA*85. Its a wonderful lens.
If I'd to comment, just don't be too shy, and get closer for the shot

This is with the BigMOS? Nice and sharp and OOF areas so nicely rendered. Like!

Awesome!
These shots make me want to give that 8mm fisheye in BnS a try.

You are really dedicated. You even paid that $30+ to go up Sky Garden

$20 la... I've been up twice... Only wanted to go up once... Then went back after seeing this recently. I went up and wanted to tear my hair out, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually link these views together without getting distortion from the glass (the portion of Skypark in front of the bridges which seems to be the vantage point is surrounded by glass, not the usual wires thingy). I tried contacting the guy earlier to find out how he did it but there was no response. Wonder if anyone here has any inkling?

So end up.. Do the same old nonsense again. :/ Luckily the light was better this time..
