Photos taken by Pentax cameras for tech. discussion - Season II

Just a couple of recent photos...

It's always nice for the hubby when the wife attempts to bake... ;p
Tamron 90mm macro, bounced flash off the ceiling

That looks very successful indeed.
I always want to try making them, but I'm too afraid of the butter to add enough to make good ones. :(

no offence meant to you or your wife but the colours and shape makes the croissant look rather unflattering

maybe a wider perspective might help - showing the kitchen and maybe even some baking tools - kinda like still life ... gives the photo more context rather than a macro / close-up shot. just my 2 cents.

Haha, none taken... though I can tell you that the colour is pretty accurate. :dunno: Anyway, kitchen messy lah, I purposely chose an angle to reduce clutter... But I like your still life idea, there's always next time... :p

Actually, it wasn't that successful. The taste was correct, but the yeast didn't rise enough, so texture was a bit too dense. Will try again some time.

When baking, cannot be afraid of the butter and/or sugar! Just don't think too much about it and whack, most important is that the cake/bread/whatever must turn out tasty, otherwise it's such a waste of effort. Yummy, sinful food is like alcohol: just enjoy in moderation

Sharing some pics of mini Pentax overseas outing at Hala Bala Sanctuary, southern part of Thailand.
Went with Loke & Wye & Loke's fren (Canon user).
No luxurous hotel stay there, we were staying in army camp like with facilities not better than that.
At night when we sleep, we could hear crickets & other insects sound, really under nature environment.
The people there were very friendly, not like what others said it's a dangerous terrorist area.
The food there were excellent, all are tasty real Thai authenic recipes cooked by the land owner. Everything the stay & 3 meals are extremely cheap - only S$20 per day per person.

A street scene, the place when we 1st landed after the thai custom..

Oh, I've actually seen this bird before! But in the Seaworld amusement park in Orlando... not as garang as you to look for it in the wild. :embrass: Quite amazed when we saw it 'cos you'd never imagine a bird with such a strange looking head.
The bird handler was telling us that it's actually quite a lazy bird, and they try to stay very still and wait for insects to fly past them. When a careless insect brushes past the bristles on the frog mouth's face, it'll snap the insect right out of the air. Interesting.

Here's the friendly frog mouth we got to pat. It's got very soft feathers...

Lovely shot.

I'm curious. How do you shoot landscapes like these with an UWA? Do you shoot with the horizon at the middle then just crop, or you actually tilt the camera? Coz whenever I tilt, the distortion is really, really noticeable (especially with buildings). Or is the distortion what you really aim for?

TIA.
