Ken..nice shot!

Can you advise what AF points and modes you use for this?

ken, u've done it again...

Thanks Willy. :)

taken with TC?

Nope, with TC the focusing speed is slower & may not be able to achieve such shots. ;)

Anyway for bif, the trick is don't capture the bird too big, leave some space for better composition/framing.
In fact on my scenrio yesterday, a 200mm is better. I had some shots with wings/tail out of the frame.

Testing my Pentax F 300mm f4.5 purchased from FW. The pictures that came out are very satisfying as compared to the FA J 75-300mm. All photos taken with F300mm

An expression of despair? Or a state of meditative relaxation? Taken today at Lower Pierce Reservoir

Robocop and the illusory fisherman

Fishing is an art of relaxation, under the shade of the tree at Lower Pierce.

No post processing - right from camera. No birds today - not a SINGLE one! Only one pair of "love birds" but didn't take them lah, too obvious with a "bazooka"

was looking to buy the DA 55-300 as I wanted a lens with a longer reach but decide to get a FAJ75-300 as it was special at a gd price despite much review online on this lens..and i was pleasantly surprised by this lens :D

Accquired a Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 recently (my first UWA). Tried it recently, the FOV is really amazing for me. Everything looks so far away and you see so much of the foreground, still not really sure how to use it well. Any advise or tips is appreciated.

Nice. Certainly more classy than those I can see (if I even bother to see) in Portraits and Poses section :D

The effect is straight from the J9??

Greatly appreciate any comments and ideas to improve.
Though I find that technically (not compositional) I can cover the shots, I just can't get the impact.
Do I really need to shoot the fringe (the old, the poor, the forgotten or unseen of society) to seem that I am 'making a point'?
Thoughts??

Just restricting my thoughts to the above image.

The surroundings are just too messy. You have stripes and solids in loud colours, people with different expressions looking all over the frame with a somewhat out of context advertisement tagline.

Soft focus doesn't help here. Aggressive cropping might help, but I'm not sure which subject you're highlighting in this instance.

Thanks for the comments.
Hmm... I had thought the girl was most obvious (maybe not.. :) ). Its exactly ppl all doing their own thing and the little girl is alone.
Soft focus was actually to cut out the clutter and move more focus to the girl. Maybe vignetting would better.
But certainly agree that I need to ponder more over how more focus or impact needs to be done for the mentioned photo.

Need to build up more of an eye for such things like the advertisement you mentioned.
