Day 3 - Ha Long Bay

I will avoid the usual shots such as the ones overlooking the bay, except for the ubiquitous sunset shot - spent too much energy for it!

Our good doc getting out his poloriod cam for action

Yah... again I Santa Clause right?

Here he goes giving her the poloroid shot he had taken

Admiring the good shot of our doc

Kids not smiling, probably a blur shot :bsmilie:

But honestly, I feel it is better than giving pens or notebooks. I think they can afford such stationery but cameras are probably a different matter.

Even though the pictures will fade, the joy among the children and the memory of a mother with her child will linger long after the pens have dried.

Next time, you probably have a competitor for Santa Claus!

Agree with you whole-heartedly, acpical.

Anyway, remember that scene when you, I and SereneXMM were walking down from Sapa towards Lao Chai?
Everyone was way ahead already, only leaving three of us.
And you saw me shooting on the road, right?
I was telling you about getting some patterns.
Well, they didn't turn out that good.

But still, in classic acpical style of photography, here it is.

This road surface itself is slanted.
I kept the horizontal as horizontal already, yet the road is wai-wai...

I saw this but too lazy to bring out my camera and be pelted by rain unneccessarily. Maybe a direct overhead shot would convey the pattern better. Yeah, talk only.

Doc you're still online keeping track of the thread :bigeyes::bigeyes:

Haha... we have been forewarned already.
So all prepared liao.
But still, although it's fun shooting in the rain feeling like a little Hmong child all over again, having to struggle with a vastly different set of scenery requirements and the corresponding camera settings, is tough.

You are absolutely right, divinemoment.
It crossed my mind, your suggestion, it did.
Just that in that split moment, I wanted the perspective of the road leading up to the turn at the distant and also the mistiness of the background.
So I did it like this.

Nice, divinemoment! I would even say the limestone pinnacles are framing the rowers!
