Photographers needed to cover Bday Party

I feel the need for elaboration regarding the issue of seeing taking pictures as a fun thing to do. When I first started taking pictures, it is really fun. Simply because I am on holiday overseas. It is definitely fun to take pictures of beautiful scenaries and keeping them as memories of world conquest. There is nothing to play around with then, because I was just using a point and shoot. Yet, it is still fun. As time goes by, I find taking pictures of people even more fun. People includes pretty girls. It is definitely fun to take pictures of pretty girls because they smile back at you. After a while, I find pretending to be a professional photographer also very fun. It is definitely fun to carry big equipments to conduct urban warfare in our boring city. Eventually, I find myself taking pictures from the coffin very fun. Simply because I have to find the best angle to take the best picture for the living who are having fun partying. If I can't take a good picture, they won't even allow me to get into the coffin to take pictures for them again.

Fun is all in the mind.

i think that it is subjective whether you want to be paid or not for any assignment. To call another photographer a clown just because he/she wants to do it for free is plainly rude and very offensive. ;(

Can't believe the nerve of some people. But I am sure there will be some clown in here who will do it for free.

If you are one of them and you are reading this.

DON"T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!:nono:

Thank you for the compliments. Yes, I am helping my friend cover her birthday but the location is quite large and I would not be able to cover it as good myself as if I had 2 fellow friends to help me out on the day itself.

the location larger that the largest wedding ballroom???

To do it for free, there is always a limits... Please remember there are full time photographer around and they need to pay for their house, and if they have kids, their kids' education and other thing. And photography is their main source of income.

And yes, a AD photographer can handle the wedding event singly, I don't think there is a need for 2 photographers to cover the birthday event. Unless to say, is a newbie photographer, first timer for event and not sure of the workflow. ;)

like i said it's subjective. if you feel you want to do it willingly regardless you're a pro photographer who makes a living or just a hobbyist who wants an exposure to different shooting environment, then just do it. but to be called names by others is uncalled for.:)

Summary of the entire situation!!!

Anyway Hellrock = Streetlite?

Hey, my offer to shoot for free was ignored!

Come on, a 400/2.8 costs ONLY $12K.... it shouldn't be anything significant right? After all I can catch the 21st birthday moment.... ;)

If things go wrong, it might be inspiration for some slapstick old style HK comedy movie about bumbling photographers.

Hey! I got it! I got it!

Mount a motion sensor for the camera on a tripod.... anyone move in front of it.... *SNAP!*

VOILA! No need to have 2 cameramen! In fact.... no need for ANY!

Paying homage to was it MasterCard or Visa?

For a modern photographer starting out...
DSLR camera with lens... $$4000 (with flash, basic setup)
Camerabag .. $150
Batteries (for everything) $ 100
"Thank you" for shooting... Free/None/Words Only
Replacing a bust shutter that happened unexpectedly: > S$200

Should the shutter bust halfway through, the organizer will get flak for not being able to take shots; then pay for their own repair... "Thank you for coming to shoot..."

Kind of remind me of the funny thread asking for photographers to appear to take photos at an event and get paid $50 or something. for show only... :bsmilie:

Oops. I'm getting haluncinations now. Must be this darned migraine I got from flu... argh...:dunno:

You forgot something.

Yeah I can SHOOT the event FOC.

A copy of the cd will be given. Photos will be resized to a size which gives no more than 10kb per photo. For full res photos, they will be priced at $2 per photo with a digital watermark stamped in the centre of every photo. An additional surcharge of $3 is required per photo for no watermark. That's my rates. Nothing in this world comes for free.

Eh, you also missed something. Heh heh, we're helping each other refine words, cool!

It should be....

"Capturing the moment BEFORE/DURING/AFTER the candles are blown out : PRICELESS"

Cos no one knows the start and end time ;)

Nice!!!!!

Some people got offend by my use of the word "clown". :dunno:

First, I did not specifically refer to anyone in here, so why should anyone be offended. Guilty of being one?

Enough has been said and i'm sure the threadstarter get the pt.

But it still take 2 hands to claps.
