eikin, hold your peace, seven early eight early better take more pics. some people won't understand security issue until they hit by something then they will blame the lack of security.
I did encountered numerous security check not just in singapore - some security guys and police are indeed rude in their approach but some are nice.

one time went to police open house with ryan, got on the police boat and took a pic of ryan in the cockpit, the coparal raised his voice that no photo is allowed and ask to be deleted in a rude way. There was no sign that photography was not allowed, as i walked out another officer apologised for his rudeness....:sweatsm:

smrt security guards.
was shooting a documentary about 2 ex-convicts. we went to changi prison took a few shots no problem. then went to kakit bukit prison, before i can post the subjects, one big fat lady (prison warden) shouted at us - no photography here. me went across the factory carpark and shoot with a zoom lens.

My spot check occured at Punggol Jetty when the police post was still on the road level (not jetty level like today).
An old bird sargent was making sure his men are on the ball that morning and saw me shooting crows on the wire above the PP, thinking I was focusing at them.
Sure enough my ic came out and they asked me to scroll thru the images of sunrise & birds

The old bird sargent then sternly told me that photos of PP not allowed -- SIGH!
Seems like some one needs to step in and balance between security needs and paranoia, and put some brains behind the administration of the two extremes.
