Pentax User Photo Skills Workshop: Sat, 10 April 2010

hi i just bought my first pentax and would like to join the course if available!! i got a k-x. is it too basic for this course?

i wanted to join too.

Fengwei, please make it a bi-monthly event if possible :)

Yeah! Let's have another workshop soon. Would love to learn from fellow Pentaxians. Just to clarify, does the workshop only cover post processing using Photoshop/Lightroom/Aperture, or does it include shooting aspects of photography (composition, strobing, manual focus, etc). Also, realise that it might be useful for those new to Pentax and photography to go through things such as Pentax camera settings and functionalities (never knew you could zoom in while taking pictures in live view, or move the focus point anywhere on the screen until Fengwei showed me how) :-)

Yeah, I've just got a K-x recently too and would love to join such a workshop, if the gurus are kind enough to organise again. :)

That'll be a bit hard. We all got work to do, and family to take care of. This kind of training isn't as easy as our monthly outing, it's gonna take a lot effort to organize one workshop ...

Maybe more reasonable like twice a year :)

Agreed. From my introductory strobist class, it seemed that the interest was well received. I didn't even have to book a place, just the great outdoors/indoors. Only problem was my way of teaching. (which was incredibly stiff)

I'm not sure if I'll be holding anymore classes, but if there's enough demand (someone set-up a poll for different courses?) I'll see what I can do. I don't mind teaching on an individual basis, provided there's enough lightstands... and "compensation". ;)

There are lots of sifus here to cater to the different genres. They just need to start a thread asking people to join them for their mini-outings and impart knowledge along the way. :)

Agreed ... (not on the part that yr teaching is stiff) - But the sharing part
I start my 1st macro session with detritus giving me a lot of guide too .... From there I learn .
Sometime Jio pp go out shooting , share knowledge is also a very good way to learn stuff ....
Same goes to my hyper focal distant knowledge was from Brian too .... That's the fun part of photography ....isn't that ? Beside we got the advantage on this as are all Pentaxian :)

:bsmilie: looks like we must have more frequent macro outings then. will probably post a new thread in the coming days to see what's the response like.

will keep it small for a start... too many pple wait scare all the bugs will all that stomping ;p

Looks like you guys enjoyed yourselves. ;)

I think the largest problem is almost always venue.

I think it's hard to teach in the field, everyone wants to shoot, I can't imagine how you would learn effectively other than a few tips here and there. So a more indoors environment might be better, and there aren't that many around where you don't have to pay or risk getting chased out since it would be hard to miss that you are actually conducting some sort of workshop.

I think I have been promising something on landscape processing for quite some time... To be honest my workflow has always been quite straightforward and I don't really use a lot of tricks, so really, it will be too brief.. But maybe it can be more of a sharing/ Q&A session. I am just racking my brains to find a location that doesn't need me to spend too much time to source, arrange, etc... Weekends still quite busy these days.

If you need a indoor environment to teach, can always use my place, can accommodate 10 ppl around a table and more on stools, with a wall for a projector display. Now can we have the workshop soon? :)

I am vey interested to join if theres any again! :D I don't mind to contribute on anything I can to make it possible. I want to learn!

Me young padawan wants to learn from master edutilos too.

Ah... I'm interested in the workflow... Seems like my photos anything I edit also look nice to me... So like 1 image, 10 different edits, all 10 like look nice to me... Then how?! -_-"... Cannot seem to choose... Need help in knowing to edit or not to edit... And to what extent... LoL

I think there are a number of us who would love to learn from each other.

Hi Hi,

Just checking, I understand only Pentaxians can sign up. Can Non pentax owners sit in as well. ?

Thanks ! :)

If we do have another training session, everyone will be welcome. But the priority will be given to Pentax users (if got space constraint) ;)
