Pentax Q - Open Box ...

Got an email regarding Q's lenses and accessories. Here are the available dates and suggested retail prices (shop prices can be considerably cheaper), either are already available or will be here on 15 Sept.

Congrats! It's the coolest camera on the market right now. Those who never played one, they don't know what they've missed :)

Enjoy the little Q.

interesting... after looking at the price list, sudden realisation that the price of the Q looks high but when u factor in the price of the 01 standard prime, which should be priced in the region of the 02 zoom, the price of the body itself is only $600+, which has been the range for high end PNS all along. thats very reasonable

care to post some high iso shots? thank you!

So what's with the Toy lenses wide and fisheye?
Why are they 'toy' and 'cheap'?
No distortion correction? Poor sharpness? Vignetting?

the fisheye and toy lenses have plastic lens mounts and fixed aperture.

its not intended to be a "high-performance" lens. its more for "unique" effects.

great if u like the lomo "feel" i guess :bsmilie:

some sample shots on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/darwinfish105/page1/

looks good at large size. but at original size can see that there only so much you can achieve with a small sensor.

With such a small sensor 1/2.3"; I just wonder how well it can perform. The dpreview forum hasn't been kind to it. So, let's see FW's review and the pictures. The Lumix LX5 still has a 1/1.7" sensor. So, like to know how Pentax is positioning this camera, and what technological breakthrough it has.

Still I'm not sure its 'toy' performance or 'good enough' performance.
I guess I have to wait for more samples on flickr and such.

Don't get your hopes up.
Its just going to sit between advanced pns and m4/3 in performance.

Same thing with my GF1.
There is no comparison between it and my K5.
Simply no comparison in usage and absolute photo quality.
But it is a nice camera and is rather good for street/people photography as well as a walk around camera w/o the usual baggage.
I just learn not to click on the 1:1 icon when I am viewing it. :D

Sorry I've been very busy lately, won't be able to post much probably until Friday or weekend :(

what's the difference? light leaks, vignetting, softness, distortion, one man's meat is another man's poison :bsmilie: how else do u explain the hoard of lomo shooters out there? ;)

The Q has definitely passed the furry cat test! Thanks fengwei.
BTW I think all you guys commenting on the sidelines are overthinking too much with regards to this camera... the image quality is pretty good imo.
