Can someone share with us if they have encountered any problems with their Grey Units (Body) and how did OP address them? I feel like going down tonight or tomorrow to get it already... Whose interested, and we may just get a group discount?? Kekeke...

I have no problem with their items, including my 1 year old K100D. All my stuff are brought from them. They will exchange 1:1 within 7 days when problem arise. I did that once before.

But what exactly does shop warranty mean? If something happens to the camera within that 1 year, they will bear all the cost to repair it, whether they send it to Shriro or elsewhere, is it?

Means if anything wrong w/ the cam, you just send back to the shop. They'd take care of the repair part

Why buy a new kit lens? You can get a second hand one for less than 100.

What is so surprising? That's about the retail price that you can easily obtain in the US.
Warranty? Shop warranty lah. Anyway I have bought lots of grey stuff from OP and places like HK and in all my years I never had any issues even after the standard 1 year warranty period. I guess you need to pay more for peace of mind... and for being an early adopter.

True, US prices are nearly always the best in the world, but SG$15XX in singapore is very decent, even for a grey set, considering the camera has been out for hardly a couple of months. :thumbsup:

It's just a personal thing, but I feel more comfortable with an official warranty if I am already spending so much on the body. I haven't had any experience with grey sets to find out if a warranty is really required or not.:dunno:

Buy grey and you enjoy savings upfront. Personally I'd rather not pay more than necessary to get the item figuring that the upfront savings (about 20% here) should be more than enough to cover the cost of repair within the 1 year period. After all, photo equipment are global products, so unless QC is so screwed or the camera is a lemon, not likely to face equipment failure within 1 year.

Funnily enough, one of the rare times I bought a local warrantied sets (2 Nikon D70 bodies), I had so much problems with them that I eventually got rid of them, and jumped to Pentax. :bsmilie:

Called this morning, the price of $15xx is without GST. With gst, the price is $16xx.

...i hope you didn't take it to mean that the k20d is grey in colour

grey set means no warranty, only shop warranty.. apparently any problems they will ship back to source to repair. some people, naturally, view this as an enormous risk that they are not willing to take

Argh!! U spot it too fast! I thot after I edited it it's gone! :sweat: Initally I reallly thought it's grey in colour but after reading a few pages more on this thread I realise what it means.

For grey set price $1580, only $220 different. In my view, it's not worth. what do you think?

I thk its not worth it. $220 for a first year warranty is not worth it imho.
