Pentax Luna New Year Promotion - K-7 for $13xx, Twin WR Kit Lenses for $439SGD!

Ah, is the k-7 iso level as good as a nikon d90? It was suppose to be my choice until k-x came out.
Hmmm I really have to slowly consider on this. By the way, where can I have a feel of the k-7? Will slr revo or op have stock to have a feel? I had try using the nikon d90, had a feel of the k-x, (it feel light n good to bring for travel).

the k7 ISO performance breaks apart at 6400, acceptable up to 1600. 6400 can still be very good if effort is put in for post processing/noise reduction.

at base ISOs k-7 has unparalleled level of detail, 7D, D300s do not come close.

jpeg colours out-of-camera from Pentax are always very pleasing, more so than C/N. sony's jpegs are most juicy, but not suitable for every types of shooting.

I don't know how much the original cost but I saw a third party one selling at eBay at S$18.

the samsung and sony sensors have strengths and weaknesses, i don't know if the excellent qualities of both can ever be fused into one "sensor to rule them all" as far as APS-C is concerned :bsmilie:

i've been experimenting with neat image + unsharp mask in photoshop, it has been working well, able to reduce the repulsive black grain and the blue blotches problem at 6400. I must say that the firmware amplification from ISO3200 to 6400 is really disappointing. within it's native range from ISO 100-3200, the k7 retains film-grain characteristics throughout and excellent detail preservation. at 6400, the grain becomes very destructive; aggressive NR actually "recovers" details instead.

it's true to my observation that firmware algorithm can bridge the gap. i will try to upload results to share with other k7 owners, to help relief any high ISO woes

shot in weak fluorescent lighting and with black subjects to demonstrate this key weakness in the samsung sensor: shadows/black noise.

Firstly, Neat Image (auto profiling, detail preservation). Photoshop CS4: USM, 100% radius 1 (re-sharpening only done to "after" file)

Pretty satisfied with the outcome... Managing textured surfaces @ ISO 6400 will be my next endeavor..

Offer like this is so very good and I am just wondering why emjay did not even put an advertisement in the newspaper. Surely this will increase the numbers of Pentaxian. By the way I am also Petaxian and have K-x with DA 1855WR and DA 50200WR.

I went to the branch at Temple St.. Look for Mr Quek. But if you want to get filters and other accessories, they don't seem to carry a wide variety.

You need to have a K-7 to buy the lenses, this means that they just need to copy the serial number of your camera.
