Pentax Luna New Year Promotion - K-7 for $13xx, Twin WR Kit Lenses for $439SGD!

More likely it will be called K7 mk2, i think

A quick check on B&H: $USD1050. After conversion, shipping and GST, cost around $1600. So effectively, its only $100 less. Better than nothing but isn't really that Great a deal lah...

Is it really a fair comparison to match B&H's online prices versus the price that is on offer from a local brick and mortar store? If you feel that the difference is not a big deal then all I can say is you're sadly mistaken. Compared to the initial launch price locally, the price drop is pretty significant both in percentage and absolute terms.

Why buy from B&H when one can pop by a local shop and test on the spot before buying with a full warranty covered by the local agent? You can even get to choose a nice serial number because you're not buying blind from a faceless online retailer.

Moreover not everyone has a credit card for online purchases and it is always a good way to develop a rapport with your local photo shop by buying locally.

Come on, you really wan to wait for 2 weeks to 1 month to get it from the US while you can get it cheaper here right away? And as I said, $1499 is just a start point, you can definitely get it for a cheaper price if you know how to bargain ;) Even at $1499, it's already cheaper than US price, what more you can ask for?

If I didn't have a K7 now, I'd bring my non-working Program Plus and trade for a new K7 the first thing tomorrow :)

Guys, please don't start another debate about which is better between K10D/K20D and K7. I've used them all, and to be honest, K7 is miles ahead of the other 2. Those talks about CCD/CMOS sensor difference are just pure nonsense, the improvement of K7 over K20D is not just on the paper. You have to use them both for a while before you'd really know the difference. The speed/exposure accuracy (especially w/ a flasy)/white balance/AF accuracy/built quality/features/... improvement on K7 are very obvious. I'm tired of those talk about K20D is better or as good as K7. Those are just blind talks. I've used them all, and I know better than most guys here (yeah, I'm not modest in this regard). If I have to go over again, I'd pay 1000 more to get the K7 instead of K20D in notime.

"A better camera would give you a better deal, which means you can have a brand new K-7 for less than $1499!"

Anyone know how much would it be for trade in with a K10D ?
Thought I can live with K10D for another years, but now indeed very tempting ;p

could we do a hands up and see how many of us want to do a trade in? maybe if we do a trade in bulk we might get better price? I for one will have to trade in not only my k20d body but my grip and battries as well...

Why trade in a K10D or K20D? Just sell them lah. You can trade in a damaged or non working DC, or even an very old P&S film camera ;) It's better to just sell your working dSLR instead of trading in.

But since the price is so good, I guess it's not easy to sell a K10D or K20D at a good price now ...

Hey Terrence, welcome to the K-7 in advance!:bsmilie:

+1 on this...
As a one time K10D and K20D user, (plus the K100D and K100D Super) I can attest that the K-7 is easily the best Pentax DSLR to date. I definitely feel I get more keepers with the K-7. I'm still blown away with the 100% viewfinder and the uber silent shutter...

Isn't they said "A better camera would give you a better deal"?
I thought can trade in price get close to $1k with working & modern DSLR

K10D & K20D is hard to sell at this moment, K10D resell price is pretty low, I rather give to my younger brother than sell it.

I rather give to my younger brother than sell it.

Please do! Then buy a K7 so that the Pentaxian population will +1 ;p
Seriously I have used the K7 also and its a really great camera. Downgraded to Kx because I thought I don't need the added strengths of the K7 but I was partially wrong.

damn good deal man..i've handled 50D, A550, A900, i still love my k7, the WB is seriously wayyyyyy more accurate than those in incandescent lighting. this in turn adds a lot to overall IQ. handling is excellent as well, menus and buttons are direct access, my C friend also commented how accessible everything is compared to his 50D.

those tethering on the edge, grab the chance and join the rebellion now!!

I think can also just grab some box, poke a hole, and say, "Here's my pinhole camera!" ;p

That's the reason why I never left my k-7 yet, the direct button controls, and handling is the best so far i held, btw, even compared with 7d i still prefer handling mine due to weight and balance ( or am I just biased  )

We are all biased, and I'm not ashamed of being so ;)

Fully Agree.
We have a decent distributor and we now want to pinch pennies (not) to get what?
Not only is it cheaper locally, we support the brand that we like and it thrives in S'pore which in the long run benefits us. Why pull the carpet from our own feet and later lament that the Pentax presence is dying out here. Not to mention that we get a warranty, good price and get to try out the product before purchase.

Online purchase can quickly turn against the buyer who wants to save the few extra dollars. Missing shipments, faulty products, no warranty, unexpected GST, shipping costs, frustrations, can easily set back the savings gained from a few successful purchases.
MHO, use online avenues for stuff we cannot get easily here or if the savings are worth it.

i can onli afford if the price goes below 1K... :(
