Heard that the K20D using a new AF module, and the sensor was an APS-H (1.25X). If this is true, the market will really heat-up this year!

Don't lnow about the new AF sensor bit. But it is very likely that the K20D will be taking after the Samsung GX-20, which according to some sources, will have a 30 x 16mm image sensor :lovegrin:

:bigeyes: If K20d really has a new AF module, then it is realllllli something worth looking forward as an upgrade path. It will be good to see Pentax fixing their 'weakest link'... ;p

It is just rumour. It could be just rumour put up by people who wish for a new AF. If it is using the same 14.6MP CMOS image sensor as the leaked Samsung GX20, I saw 1.5X;).

Anyway just wait for the official announcement from Pentax.:)

Yes, maybe just rumour. If, it is really a APC-H, then I'll buy it for wide, and K10D for tele....;) (Hopefully, fengwei DA14 still there...;p)

If the sensor is bigger, doesn't that make the DA lenses useless? I don't know but i feel if pentax release so many cropped lenses, next time if they release fullframe or bigger sensor not much lens to support :confused:

You'll see even more crazy bids on ebay for old FA and FA* lenses until Pentax produce a new range of lenses for the larger sensor.

Which is why i think its suicidal for Pentax to abruptly change sensor size without producing enough lenses to match the system.

Not all DA lenses are useless with APS-H sensor, I'm sure most of them can be uses for APS-H format, like DA* 16-50(certain range), 50~135, DA16~45 (certain range up to 45mm), 40, 70....etc. My test out of 16~45 on my MV and ME Super shown the 16~45 on certain range can be uses.

Truly but who wants compromise, especially if u paid big bucks for a DA*

The DA40 works great on old Pentax film SLRs, DA* 50-135 should work fine on APS-H (some vignetting on film from 50-90mm). The DA* 16-50 shows black rounded corners throughout entire range on a film SLR body and it gets worse towards 50mm. I don't think its going to work on an APS-H sensor.

I dun have DA*16~50, but my tests shown DA16~45 works at around 18 or 19mm onwards without dark round corners (only @ 16mm to around 18 or 19mm have round corner).

How many more days huh? I am going blind just staring at this screen ............... :bigeyes:

The days seem so slow when waiting for the big announcement;
then must wait for the camera to be released for sale in the shops;
then must wait a bit to avoid the first few batches that might have teething issues.

In the meanwhile must save, save, save... :bsmilie:

Hmm,,sounds like there is going to be a used DSLR market full of K10D and K100D this year.
If you are looking for a K10D body, this is surely the year!

will be upgrading K20d in 2009 hehehhee, need to see the any issues first on 1ts batch

Some guy posted some full size samples from either the Pentax K20D or Samsung GX20. Maybe you guys would be interested to take a look.

The 3200 one looks pretty good, probably better than ISO1600 on K10D. Consider it's a 14.5mp camera, that looks really promissing :D
