Pentax K-x help thread

Yea you can just skip that part its the extended warranty which cost $68...

Thanks, it went thru but why is it asking for payment to registered ($68 1 year)? weird right?

Hi Azul123,
Don't worry. That part appears by default but if you do not want the extended warranty, just ignore it and it will revert to the normal one. Otherwise send a cheque to them and they will extend it accordingly. $68 probably worth it if you intend to hold the camera more than 1 year. :)

Thanks guys... now that part is over with... guess it is time to play more with the camera and get use to the dials and buttons.

Quite often I press the LV button wrongly when I actually wanted to preview the last shot on display... hmmm, other than that this is pretty good camera and the 18-55mm kit lens is damn sharp. haven't tried on the 55-300mm lens yet. Just completed the firmware upgrade but registration got error stating Invalid or has been registered? can't be right? I bought it brand new.

Anyone hit this problem before? waiting for Emjay to reply email since Friday.

welcome to pentax! :D:D

welcome to pentax! :D:D
Thank you! for the warm welcome.

I think I am going to like this small DSLR (I guess EVIL have to wait). Bought this for my trip end of this month. Now I can leave videocam behind, going to use the toy camera filter alot pairing with my Vari-ND to see if I can make the place appear almost deserted in broad daylight.

Just like a mini-City.

Hi All,

I tried to register online but was prompt that the serial no. was being registered or invalid.

I tried both the box and camera serial no but failed. Anyone can advise me? I bought from Manly. Thanks in advance:angry:

Steve

Give Emjay a call. There have been several posts in the past of people encountering problems with warranty registration online. They called Emjay and got help to register their warranty.

I had the same problem, cant register.
I emailed them and they replied & solved the issue over the weekend.

And ignore the $ part, just submit as per normal.
Unless you want extended warranty, then you pay the $ after.

Dont worry about it.

The problem is I can't even able to register. The system doesn't accept e serial no I entered. Will only have to give them a call

Serial number is on the box and has 13 alphanumeric digits. If still cannot call emjay

Just thinking - the problem of registering with Emjay(be it the warranty number registration and extended warranty) has been there for a long time.

Also the last time I log into Emjay site, saw only K-7. No mention of K-x the hot selling product.
Even the Malaysian web promotes the K-x too. Sigh..

Not sure if Emjay reads this and bother to do anything about it.

The Kx is there. But only listed as "K-x Body". That was how I registered my ex-Kx. Emjay told me its ok and they will recognise as a kit since they do not sell body only. :)

Yup I had the same problem, cant register as well.
I emailed them about it, they will solve it for you.
They will reply you and tell you to register online again after that. ;)

I assume that it is the front lens cover you are referring to. You can get it from Mass Sales. Should be only a few dollars for generic versions without brand.

Hi,
I got a question about my pentax K-x.
Pls pardon me if the question is totally not in line with photography or is senseless.
coz i know very little about camera.

when i try to take a shot at home of my son. sometime the photo appear too dark or too bright.
btw, i'm using the M function or the AV function.

do i adjust the brightness or darkness using the EV button beside the green button +/- 1 to 3?
or do i play ard with the shutter speed, iso and aperture?

last time when i use the AV function, then i use the EV +/- to adjust the brightness.
then yesterday when my cousin, a nikon's user. teach me how to use the M function. he advice me to play with the shutter speed, iso and apeture.

so is both way ok to adjust the brightness?
coz i think shutter speed slower, the photo brighter. but my son dun stay stationary, therefore to get the right brightness, sometime he move abit then photo blur.

Pls advice. :) :) :D:D

To shoot kids w/o using flash, you probably need a speed at least 1/50 or 1/60s. Just base on this one and the max aperture of your lens, adjust the ISO to a value where you can achieve 1/60s. If you are using the kit lens 18-55, it's pretty slow lens for indoor use, better get a slightly faster lens if you like to shoot indoor w/o flash.

Since your kids are with you all the time, don't shoot him when the light condition isn't good. Just wait for a better day, take the kids outside and you'd be amazed how the photos turn out to be.

Good luck and happy shooting.
