The built and ergos looks pretty good.

Any more leaks? Any more? :D

wooweee...finally HD video support! That means no need to bring DSLR and pnS (for video clips).. The leather look gives it a nice touch too reminisce of the K1000 look.
But the front design looks a little unbalanced with so little on the right and so much on the left? Why still call it PRIME II when its a new design? Why not PRIME III?
Looks like minor improvements all around. But from the picture, it looks big....the only minus point from my POV....but probably well liked by most. If I upgrade I also loose the flexible AA batteries...sigh...
Now the next question for Emjay...when and what price? :)

The k-7 batt grip supports AA!

... But from the picture, it looks big....
Bro, I am not sure if you've seen the comparison pictures, it's actually quite small, and in fact, probably similar if not smaller than your current one. ;)

It's a tad bit smaller than the K200D, but 50g heavier :) Handling wise it's definitely a lot better

That's like buying a Kia Picanto and then to increase capacity, add a trailer behind...;) I don't want a battery grip to make it bigger...small is sexy for me!

Cool! I was going to be greedy and ask for lighter too..heh heh. Even with my "light" K200D, after 30min holding it, I feel a strain on my wrist. It was these times that I missed the lightweight istDL...now happily with toapayoh123..!

Actually, I really like the 50-200mm ... I really won't mind getting it for travels. Useful lens.

And the best part, now we actually have the 49mm center pinch cap! hahaha... can use this for all our DA Ltds, FA Ltds (if you don't use the metal lens cap).

The DFA 50 and 100 have 49mm filter size and lens cap.

Yes, SBC. I have the DFA 50 but when you see the center pinch Pentax lens cap with the FA Ltds, you'll understand why. Just call it an obsession ...

Now is the time I start wishing that I was never 'forced' to do a premature upgrade to K20D....

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think the button layout is a nice improvement from K10D/K20D. Finally no need to keep going into the Fn menu! And finally a dedicated ISO button (which I think is more important than drive mode, flash, or WB)!

Definitely very eager to see what the AF improvement is like, if it can seriously be anything like D300... ;p;p;p Don't think IQ will be a problem lah, the "worse" it can be is like the K20D right?

I have seen green AF beam from digicams, I remember my bro's Canon S5 IS have a green AF beam.

Green AF light is a bad idea. Why use the colour that the human eye is most sensitive to?

you can set the ISO to one of the dials on the K20D.. if not it's just a matter of holding down the OK button and spinning the front dial. not much difference eh?

one thing i like is the AF button being duplicated on the batt grip. so those who like to decouple the AF from the shutter half-press can do it in both orientations. of course this is not an issue for those who don't use the batt grip or the AF button.

heard the dials are rubberized, no more pokey gear teeth!

Damn I didn't know about the OK button + front dial! It really works! Not the easiest manoeuvre, but still doable. Thanks man!

I don't set the ISO to the dials, 'cos my primary shooting mode is Av, and setting ISO to the front dial means I can't see how many shot I have left on my SD card.

I've known about OK button + dials to set ISO, but yesterday I just found out something even more amazing... press OK and green button at the same time to set ISO to auto.

was it you who mentioned that you had the front dial set to EV comp?

anyway, if you have the ISO set to the front dial, then to see the number of shots left you hold down the OK button. with a 8GB card i hardly ever worry about the available space on the card, so i prefer to keep ISO on screen instead.

woefulwabbit, did you know that in P (hyper-program) mode you can switch to Av mode by spinning the rear dial, and then to Tv mode by spinning the front dial, and back to P mode by hitting the green button?

and in M (hyper-manual) mode after pressing AE-lock to lock exposure you can adjust the aperture or shutter speed and the camera will adjust the other variable to maintain the exposure?

apparently these hyper features aren't available on DSLRs from some other camps?

Pentax started this Hyper Program and Manual mode with the Z-1. I got so used to it that I will feel lost without them. They are just so convenient!

Yes, that's me. When I have some time I'll rethink my configuration and how I shoot. I think I had underestimated the power of the OK button... :bsmilie:

I'm also under the impression that hyper-program and hyper-manual modes are only implemented by Pentax. Will need they guys with multi-camp experience to confirm for us.

Here is a new photo of the K-7 camera w/ grip and DA*55 lens mounted:
