But then I have a very good condition 50mm f/1.2... the closest I could get my hands on yet!!Wondering if Pentax has plans for something similar to these in their DA line-up for the near future:
- AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX... closest in FA line-up is the SMC Pentax-FA 35mm F2 AL. Also the SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited which is a really impressive lens.
- AF-S 24mm f/1.4 prime... closest in FA line-up is the SMC Pentax-FA* 24mm F2 AL [IF].

This is the often used quote by mis-informed ppl who use some other brand. I doubt they even have a look at the Pentax Pricelist before they mention this.
But anyway... here is the truth......
Yes, I know we have a 'Show us your Pentax' sticky, but its kinda 'specialized' since usually only Pentaxians browse it.
Do share your collections large or small. Collections only pls, since I don't want to clash with the sticky.
I'd like to point the mis-informed to this thread next time, instead of having to type again that Pentax has enough lenses.

Not events lar bro..... maybe next time got chance will try..... but mainly I shoot my kiddo who run around the house and I trying to catch up and capture that "moment".... believe lots of Daddy/Mummy are doing that.... And indoor the lighting is real "challenging"............. my other "interest" are macro and general scenery (not so often nowadays).... maybe later will shoot more.....
I am more of Prime shooter...... remember last time when I have the Nikon 12-24, blur like sotong... I set to 12 and whack for few months before I remeber its a zoom lens...

its a tough call to choose which system really, u can go either way and it will serve ur purposes, but the being a pentaxian is just a bit little bit more unique from the rest...

Yup! Wide and normal fast primes are best suited for such photography. :thumbsup: But a good quality zoom lens with a small range is also often a great boon when you are shooting pets and kids for ease of re-framing your shots as they move about rapidly!

Aiyah... only 1/2-1 stop difference won't kill you one. Pentax just need to work on their SDM from dieing. (Not that I have any) :bsmilie:

the pentax pricelist, or other third party's list, is not the actual problem here.
there may have sufficient types/model of lens in the pricelist for every photography need but the availability of these lenses are the problem.
im new to the Pentax system and as i can compare there are more available lens for the 3 other brand. this could be because there are more users of those other brands. so more trades are possible by those users.
but knowing this, i still migrated to Pentax.
i thought the features of its new cameras and its price is just so much to resist compared to its competitors. and the lenses availability.. ill deal with it later hehe
(just needs to watch out more on the BnS section/ebay i guess if im not willing to buy a brand new lens)

Many places that pentax lenses have been bought from... local retailers, clubsnap B&S, pentax forums B&S, amazon, B&H, adorama, ebay, hong kong...
Think most will prefer local retailer or B&S if possible.

I got most of them new from online sources, e.g. adorama (highly ecommended), B&H, sashinki (codemned by myself ever since my last purchase a year ago). And a few of them from b&s.
There is another lens I saw in E-bay. Its Called Samyang I think. Its a Manual Focus lens. But the quality it shows in Video is very vivid. Cheap too. But the video also looks abit Graphic editing. but somehow I very much like it.
Actually wanted to ask alot of question since I'm still new in DSLR world. If you see my signature of my Canon SLR, that one is my bro gave me so I just used it for learning. But in lens, generally I'm a sotong. I saw many in B&S on the lens but dunno if it can fix on to Kx or not. Since I'm so in love with my Kx, I wanted more from it (Sounds wrong, I know). Hence the hunting. I also wanna try in manual focusing usage to improve my skill so I can be better. So, trying taking pic using MF.
The lens that I got is enough. But not enough for me.
The list of lens that I wanna get is FA 50 1/4 (Manly no stock,must get other place)and a zoom lens _-300 that has 2.8 & a macro lens. I actually got a Raynox DCR250 close-up lens and I did tried it(dun laugh at me if I sound sooo noob.sorry) on my 50-200mm and it managed to focus well.Havent tried it on my 18-55 though. or you guys can recommend?
