aargh, Bernard, you started a thread that I can't post pictures in.
- because I don't have any of the DA Limiteds. :embrass:
Hmmm, maybe need to start a FA Limited thread... ;)

Surely there are more people with DA Limited in their lens collections...

Got a Pentax DSLR due to these lenses.

sory, i don't get the sharp feel from ur pics. is it because of resizing?

:)) possibly it's my technique that's not good? The problem with me had always been post processing, and typically what I do is "Click I am Lucky button on Picasa" and upload with low file size to the web photo album.

From the raw file I get ... I was peeping through the image and found it really good as compared to my Kit and the 18-250mm, and with my limited knowledge of what's really sharp, I commented 'sharp'..

For owners of DA21, I have a question.
How do you use a 43mm filter? 49mm is easy to understand, but I cant figure out the 43mm part.

You've got to see the real thing.. :)), the 43mm thread is on the hood itself! So you actually screw it on the hood and not on the lens...

So if you screw a 49mm Filter in front of the 21mm, you will not be able to put the hood on. Correct me if I am wrong, owners of this lens...

The DA pancakes are indeed very special lenses. I've had them all, and more than twice actaully. Here are some photos taken by the DA21 (first three are wide open):

These photos are really SHARP..

It must be the photographer! ;)

I really need to work on my technique...and perhaps even the physique..

Feng Wei, could you share what you typically do for post processing? And maybe even articulate how you are able to take these sharp pictures with the 'steady pair of hands' you have?

Sorry, Dennis.. but actually, I still think your FA limited are even more desirable ler.

LBA is really a disease...

Anyways, I am a regular patron of your blog, so keep the photos coming!

Kongping! What lovely 'product pictures' you have.. Did you place them on a dark glass? Looks really good...

usually when i re-sized a pic smaller, i'll use bicubic (sharper) in photoshop CS2/3.

heheh that time touch your 40mm... cannot forget the feel, so sturdy and awesome :D I think the pancakes look really damn good on the *ist DS but on the K10D er abit... funny ;p Bloody good lens anyway, if got money sure get one haha

Try touching the FA limiteds from Dennis / Feng Wei's... You'll be blown away..:))

But anyways, Limited DAs are a good enough compromise...kekeke...

Check you guys, my DA21 seems not being able to focus to infinity. I noticed this as I've got a splitscreen focusing screen and I can never get it aligned at infinity. Need to do more check on this though.

You are right about the not able to put the hood on when screwed on a 49mm filter. But the 43mm filter isn't on the hood, but right in front of the glass ;) There are two threads on the lens, one is 43mm which is just on the glass rim. The other is the 49mm which is as most other lenses. If you wanna use both the hood and filter together, you need a 43mm filter.

Guys, with the slew of new DA limited or DA* Primes coming, and with Full Frame DSLRs coming sooner than later, we seem to have forgot the 3 pancake lenses that's been the staple for a while...

Just wanted to share with you some amateurish photos of the lenses.. And perhaps anyone's who have or had own them before, may want to post pictures they have taken with these lenses ... ;)

I'm just curious to know what that piece with the rectangular hole is for???

My post processing is very simple. For product shots, the most important thing is to get the exposure right. If you wanna sharp results, use a tripod, and that's what I do most time. For those photos by the DA21, the lens is tack sharp by itself. The post processing is very simple: adjust level/color, add abit curve, then resize and apply some USM. That's all :)

damn fengwei.... i never get sick of viewing FA Limited porn!!!! :bsmilie:

Then go and get one set, I'm sure you'd love them :D I hold and play w/ these princesses (nickname from some Chinese forum) more than I use them to take photos :bsmilie:

thats my exact fear! :bsmilie:

anyway, I've got more than enough lens for my limited skills. Next is to settle for a K20D and live happily ever after. I hope.....
